Description
I'm not very good at lighting, but I put together a quick picture of the SDF-1 alongside Chris Kuhns Discovery-era Enterprise. An odd combination I admit, but fun nonetheless. I never realized how small the Enterprise is in comparison to the SDF-1 until I put them side-by-side. No wonder the SDF-1 can hold 70000 civilians plus who knows how many crew.
Just in case you were wondering, the classic Enterprise is 288.646 metres (947.00 ft) long. The SDF-1 on the other hand is 1210 metres (3969.82 ft) long. The Enterprise could almost fit inside the SDF-1.

Hello:
That is so true! After looking at schematics and everything, the Enterprise is indeed very small.. almost claustrophobic! So no wonder the SDF-1 i so large by comparison (and even though the SDF-1 is rather small).

A long time ago I started a fan fiction of the Enterprise-D encountering the Invid. I only got a few pages in though, when I realized I didn't know enough about the Invid to make it anything more than a combat story, and not particularly interesting.
