Description tad-da!

Notes
Before you comment, I do not want to hear about "recolors", tracings, bases, pornography, or fan art. DeviantART has policies about all of these subjects and regardless of how you personally feel, they have their own terms that are in place:

dA's definition of Pornography
dA's definition of 'Fan Art'
dA's stance on traced work
dA's stance on 'crediting'

Also: even if you are not a US citizen, and do not live under the US laws, you are still required to follow and obey US copyright laws while you are a user of deviantART: dA's stance on governing laws related to copyrights'

i can't believe that at one point i was called an art thief DX all work i do is FANART, and i have never done fanart of a person on DA's work (that im aware of) and the whole "Walz" incident with his comic parody, well that may have been the only time something like (DA) Art Theft could truly been throne in my face. but me and Walz talked about it, and as a sign of good will i took done the Parody ^^ (some) of my source images come from google searches and one (MAY, hear me know MAY) be from DA but if it ever comes up i will take the supposed pic down without arguing, and explane and talk with the person, this is why going REPORT crazy in some insistences is quite, how do i say this.... idk finish me off.

well in your case, you have permission from kyle, so you're in the clear the difference between fan art and theft is the actual work, if it is derivative then it's not theft

What if you've seen something somewhere but don't know who it is, but suspect it's stolen. Like say "LOL CAt" is made by Person X. But you might not know person x, just that person 'a' has posted it on many websites. Is there a way to find the orignal owner? I've seen several types of images on facebook and I know that they came from devart and have not seen the 'original' artist listed!

Xadrea In reply to DryBonesReborn [2011-05-26 21:56:04 +0000 UTC]

in that case, finding the actual owner of the work is key. it can be done, i've noticed things on t-shirt websites that were images ripped from dA and i was able to track down the original artist here and the work was removed and the user was banned from the website. basically, search for keywords of the image in dA's search engine, and if it's a particularly popular image, you'll fid it rather fast

I think that's what it was. I don't know if they sold the design to the company or not. Who can I mention this to? I've seen it on other sites like facebook as some 'ad'

i think there's probably a method you go through on facebook, just go to their help section and it should probably point you in the right direction

Oh, found it. I noted you the site. It's advertisement for some online quiz and no mention of the originally artist.

^^ this excites me lolz my CR logos are the best way i protect myself from art theft, my (by hand) way of making those logos is very unique (you can look no two are the same!!) and its that reason they are very hard to "Copy" XD

Nope O_o not on my keyboard

XKhaz-OujiX In reply to namenotrequired [2011-12-16 00:35:57 +0000 UTC]

I know this is an old comment, but I thought I'd ask just that are you pressing the numbers above letters or numpad? o.o

Because that alt thingy works with numpad numbers, as far as I know.

So it would be Alt + Num 0169

That gives me © at least. If you are using numpad numbers, I guess it's just the keyboard difference.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

namenotrequired In reply to XKhaz-OujiX [2011-12-16 00:40:23 +0000 UTC]

I see I don't think it worked with numpad either but maybe I never tried. I'm on a mac now, they don't have numpads.

Thank you <3

Highly required in this age of Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V! Great Tut! Just one thing though. You forgot an 'n' in 'inherits' in the line '(and anyone who inherits the work)' and the dA logo looks a little stretched.

These are just superficial things, the data inside is much more important! Take care!
