GIMP cannot handle vector images, however it can do plenty of other things

Hi! Thank you for having this posted! Just started today with the program so I'll need all the info I can get! LOL
Also, I was wondering, is there a way to convert GIMP brushes to Photoshop 7? I've found a few for PS to GIMP, but I've not found any for the reverse! ><
Thank's in advance!

You're welcome! and yaaaay! GIMP is fun Actually I'm not sure about that
However, you could certainly try some things and see if it works out!

No prob!
I looked around the web and really didn't find much, so, I thought about just making a png of the image I want on GIMP then transfer it over to PS and make a brush out of it. XD LOL

Wolfboy, just happened by this post and thought you (and others) might want
to look at this program (which is free). I use it extensively for what you appear to need as well.

you're welcome! There aren't many GIMP tutorials out there, and the ones that exist on their website tend to be kind of confusing I plan on making more when the time permits

Hi, I also have GIMP and I've been trying to figure out how to use the paths tool but it's really frustrating and confusing. Could you help me?
π: 0 β©: 1
Xadrea In reply to Gaaralover289 [2013-01-16 17:48:19 +0000 UTC]
the paths tool is similar to drawing paths in illustrator or photoshop, the only difference is that it's not vector, so you don't need to worry about closing shapes. All you have to do is outline whatever line art you're making, or draw whatever image you want with the tool, then when you're done, choose the line weight and click stroke, and it automatically fills the lines you drew in

Gaaralover289 In reply to Xadrea [2013-01-18 03:06:30 +0000 UTC]
I tried that and I've been trying to follow a tutorial I found in GIMPies but it doesn't seem to work after I click "stroke". And it's still pretty confusing.

Xadrea In reply to Gaaralover289 [2013-01-18 03:16:58 +0000 UTC]
You have selected a line weight before clicking stroke right?

Gaaralover289 In reply to Xadrea [2013-01-18 03:42:54 +0000 UTC]
OwO a line weight?
Oh & I got the line to show up, but it's still really confusing on how to make a curve.

Xadrea In reply to Gaaralover289 [2013-01-18 03:58:19 +0000 UTC]
When you draw the line at the end there should be an anchor that you can move that curves the line

I know, but usually my lines end up....weird. -.- Thanks anyway, I'm probably annoying you so I'll try to figure it out myself. ~3~

an alternative to this is using the "smooth stroke" setting on the brush tool. It looks like the paths tool when you use it

circle fuzzy brush is a sub-tool that can be accessed by either the pencil or paintbrush tool.

Good basic stuff. There are one or two tools on there I've never used because I've never gotten around to trying them out. Now I've got an excuse!
Thank you for the work you put in this!

True, but, there are a few online. I found this one a while back [link]
It's pretty clear cut and simple, so, you might want to pass it along.
Have a good one
