What's up everybody?
These are some concept sketches of Matilda the Armadillo for a project I'm involved in. This project is the Sonic Redesigned project!
For those of you who don't know, the goal of Sonic Redesigned is to create a new game with elements of classic and Modern Sonic games in the mix.
A little snippet from their home page:
- Each Zone will be different from the last giving new shocks and surprises.
- Run through amazing detailed Zones to get to the finish, With amazing Boss battles.
- Meet some of the "forgotten" characters for a game selection. Each character has their own ability and moves to make it through.
One of the characters featured in this game will be Matilda the Armadillo, and I'll be voice acting her!
The project is off to a great start so far, but they are in need of more helpers. If you guys want to help contribute to this project, take a look at their gallery and contact .
The project is in need of as many talented folks as they can get, but here's some positions that need to be filled:
- programers
- voice actors
- zone, badnik, and boss designers
- designers in general
Even if you guys aren't able to help directly for the project, why not spread the word? Every little bit helps.

Anything really (so far as I know). A bunch of folks are already designing zones, but they could always use more designers for zones.
And badniks, designing unique badniks based off of each zone.
Possibly character design.
The game is off to a fresh start, so they don't have much designed yet. I don't know the full details, but created the whole project so they know more than me.

The only character that has been sketched so far is Matilda. So, every character needs concept art drawn of them. I don't know how many characters are in the project, but Sonic, Tails, and Dr. Eggman are definitely in the project.

WOW!!!
I really like the emotions that she gives! It's quite similar to the classical artworks of Sonic!
I also notice you like the idea of Sonic and Matilda fighting. Awesome pic, I think I like that one. Especially how ticked off she looks, and Sonic is shocked.
Really, Great job!!! I create a Matilda artwork also. It doesn't have her emotions, or anything like that. But I was trying to show how loyal she is to the Dark Egg Legion.
Me and you are going to discuss Matilda's final artwork in our Admin Page! Hopefully the others will stay out. Since this is your character. I will let you make the decisions of her.

I think I like your picture better. :/ I don't think I got the lighting right. And I'm not sure what program you use. But dang you use it well!
But I like the Ben Bates concept of her, than the official archie way.

I drew the emotions and concepts based off of the 1st draft of the script you made. I know it's not the final script, but it's good practice to draw some concepts at least.
Cool! I'll be looking forward to talking more about Matilda's final design and what not.
I like your pictures of Matilda too. 
The lighting in this picture doesn't really matter, I was just doing some quick sketches. I actually sketched these all by hand in my sketchbook. I used blue lead and regular graphite lead to sketch, then I scanned a copy of the original sketch.
My family recently got a new scanner, and ever since then the scanner has scanned my pictures differently than my previous drawings.

Also, I dont care what she really looks like. I kinda like the Roboticized eyse though. Not so much her shoe type though.
I kinda like how you, and the archies did her shoes.
But, I'm going to create some concept for her arm. You can decide what you like and don't like. Then me and you can make a final.

It doesn't really matter, I kinda like it. Because I never seen a roboticized eye, without making it look bad.
Like knuckles roboticized eye, it looked awful.. It stuck out and everything. But I like Ben Bates idea of the roboticized eye, and how he created it.

This was her original design. But the Comic artist are kinda lazy, so they scrapped out all of the details. It happens with every character at times.

Ooo! I like that design more than the Archie version. Perhaps I can do a mesh of this design with the Archie design? I like the simplicity of the Archie version, but I also like all the details Bates put in his design.

Which characters would you like to voice? It might be a good idea to do some voice demos of the characters you want to try for.

asked me the same thing; I asked him to send a list of characters he needs so that I know what I can and can't do. Honestly, I haven't don't any actual voice reels YET, but I feel that my Shadow voice is fairly good, my Eggman/Robotnik voice may be mediocre, and any others I haven't really tried out...

You do Robotnik voices? The script is done until like a couple days from now. And, I'm looking through it, I just don't think I can add Ashura in there... I can probably edit it again, but It's kinda hard to introduce two character in the same game with such little time. (Throughout the acts.)
I even had an awesome battle planned out. But If you can do a Shadow voice, I may be able to add him. Unless you can do any other characters? How about Knuckles? Like a classic version? Or even Sonic OVA voice?
There's a reason why... I'll talk to you later about it though.

I have been trying out various voices for Robotnik/Eggman, and I'm willing to give his lines a shot. Shadow's voice, quite ironicly, is the one I feel the most confident in my abitily to imitate; as for Knux, I might be able to do both Modern and OVA/Classic, but I won't know until I actually try.
Just send the script when it's all set, and I'll see what I can do; please keep in mind that it may take a while due to my schedule, but the only way that anyone is going to keep me from fulfilling my promise is by force.

How about I just send a small part of the script, (Try Eggman's voice.)
I don't like Shadow, he's actually my most hated character, So I really don't think I'll be adding him, because he just steals too much fame from Sonic.
I'd like to hear a Knuckles, (Classic or Modern/Both. Idc.) But you'd have to make up your own lines, and if I like them I can add them.

Anyways, I'm cool with working on Eggman's script; as for Knuckles, I'll have to recycle some lines from older games for the Modern voice and possibly do the same from OVA with Classic...
