Description
This is actually from last semester and belongs with my series of Old Wives' Tales.If you swallow watermelon seeds.... this will happen.
The image quality is a little bleh, so the lines here aren't as sharp as they actually are in person.

I remember my grandmother telling me the same thing, but I didn't believe her. I didn't know much about science when I was eight years old, but I'd never seen anyone with a watermelon plant growing out of their mouth and I'd seen many people swallowing watermelon seeds.

Most people still believe that swallowing gum will upset your stomach.

Yeah, I was told as a child that gum takes 7 years to digest in the stomach. It didn't occur to me at that age, though, that it doesn't actually /stay/ in your stomach for years. Regardless, I still don't like swallowing gum. XD
