Description:

The Unity class was first designed as a response to the Terran Saturn class Dreadnoughts. The Unity class took a departure from traditional ship design by mounting the main batteries on movable rails capable of circumventing the hull instead of a traditional rotating ring. Ammunition was loaded through multiple armored hatches positioned on the rails, the gun platforms do not touch the main haul of the ship, instead they are suspended above the rails by a combination of electromagnetics and gravity manipulation. The decision was somewhat controversial due to it presenting weaknesses in the armor, however it was ignored due to the argument that energy shielding was sufficient to overcome any weaknesses in the armor. The ship also sported several enormous torpedo tubes capable of firing a variety of warheads, the size of cruisers along with numerous other secondary and tertiary.

The Andromeda class participated in the second Andromeda-Terran war where one of the ships of the class the UAFS Ryuvia downed the Terran Saturn class ITN Star Hammer. The Andromeda class also fought in number of other conflicts and was one of the largest Dreadnoughts ever built until the construction of the Sovereign class.
