Description
The Shanghai class were light cruisers designed by the United Terran Accords in the 0460s.

The ship is roughly 1500m in length and primarily armed with a twin barreled Ion Cannon turret, with its main gun complemented by four smaller dual Ion Cannon turrets, as while as numerous tertiary mass driver turrets and missile tubes.

The incredible amount of forward and broadside firepower possessed by the class combined with its quick speed made it very good at chasing down fast attack ships. Due to this the ship was constantly used in fleet and convoy escort missions.

Shanghais also carried a small fighter complement with two large hangers and four smaller ones capable of holding up to around a dozen fighters as while as numerous drones.

Although due to the ship's small size it was unable to incorporate a full Cykro Engine, it does posses miniaturized Cykro cooling system that allowed for the ship to use smaller radiators then other warships of similar sizes.

The class would be widely used by just about every side during the UTA civil war, and would stay in service in the various nations that emerged from the ashes of the UTA for over a decade before being eventually phased out by more modern warships.
