Description
Another mini-drawing of dinosaur described last year. This is a male abelisaurid Kurupi itaata from the Late Cretaceous of Brazil, looking around in search of females and making sounds with the help of a throat pouch.

Kurupi is described on basis of three vertebrae and a partial pelvic girdle from the deposits of the Marília Formation. The bones resemble those of other abelisaurids: the tail vertebrae had similar dorsolaterally oriented transverse processes with expanded ends. Thanks to them, the dinosaur had huge tail muscles and an inflexible tail, which allowed it to accelerate quickly, but reduced maneuverability. The holotype belongs to an adult animal with an estimated length of 5 meters. The generic name refers to the deity of sex and fertility Kurupi from Guaraní mythology, because the bones were found in a region that is often chosen as a place for intimate meetings. The specific name meaning "hard stone" is given because of the very hard rocks that come to the surface in the region of the Municipality of Monte Alto.

I chose a male in a mating outfit to beat the name of the dinosaur. Ironically, my drawing does not show the body parts that are known in Kurupi, so the reconstruction is completely speculative. Long filaments on the arms are also a speculative trait inspired by the possible display function of the front limbs of abelisaurids.
