Description New remake - giant Nothosaurus (Nothosaurus zhangi), attacking Mixosaurus (Mixosaurus panxianensis) in the mid-Triassic the sea of China. Giant by the standards of nothosaurus, this predator terrorized the sea, hunting to large fish and other marine reptiles. It is a color modification of the black-and-white version: xiphactinus.deviantart.com/art…

As you can see, I decided to work out on the underwater world. The whole sheet is shaded and did not, for tiring. Made with colored pencils, markers and white pen on top of the picture in black pen. It turned out quite well, by the way.

For me, the Nothosaurus also was one of the first marine reptiles, about which I learned in childhood.

Thank you! I also like these animals. It is as reptilian analogues of seals.

No doubt this was an awesome predator, but it would have been dwarfed by the gigantic and likely contemporary Shastasaurus sikanniensis.

I agree, Shastasaurus sikanniensis really surpassed it in size, but these animals lived in different parts of the world, so to meet, they could not. Although, if one day this Nothosaurus met S. sikanniensis, he would feel like nothing.

Well, most large marine animals have vast ranges (often even cosmopolitan), so I am very skeptical that the ranges of these two species didn't overlap.

Well, it's possible.

It is very implausible that such a large marine reptile was restricted to Canada, that just doesn't happen. All marine animals of that size have ranges that span entire hemispheres.
