Description
Sketch of Torosaurus latus, drawn during a spontaneous challenge with my friends. I really liked the result, so I decided to show it off.Torosaurus is known as the owner of one of the largest skulls in land animals - with a frill, his head reached an impressive 2.77 meters! The frill had rounded holes that gave the animal its name (contrary to popular belief, it means "perforated lizard", not "bull lizard"). Torosaurus is characterized by variation in the arrangement of the supraorbital horns and the shape of the nasal horn, as well as in the relative length of the frill. This ceratopsian lived in the Late Cretaceous in western North America at the same time as Triceratops, its range extended from Canada in the north to Texas in the south. In 2010, paleontologists John Scanella and John Horner presented the hypothesis that Torosaurus is an adult Triceratops, but the findings of young specimens of Torosaurus refute this.
