This is a pattern that I spent countless hours perfecting because I didn't care for any of the ones I could find.
I originally designed it to be rather large but i'm sure the pattern will work for any size you please as long as you keep the proportions in check.
Although it may seem intimidating at first for newer plushie makers these types of plushies are actually very simple to make and a great project for beginners.
NOTE: this pattern does not contain seam allowance so you will have to remember to add it.
On the heads; the darts are not mandatory but I recommend them greatly as they make the head much more round.
The blue area on the body is a optional stallion curve for those who prefer a less rounded rump and a more masculine appearance.
I included wings but not a horn pattern because all the horn is, is two long triangles. I recommend this tutorial beezee-art.deviantart.com/art/…
if you're going for a spiral look.
What I plan to do for the wings is to stuff the feather part normally on wing 1 but the center softer, than sew wing 2 on top of that and lightly stuff. I have not made a actually plush with this yet but I plan on it soon so I will post pictures than.
On the stallion head piece, you have the choice of either cutting it up into the three sections or keeping it all as one, the difference between them is that the sectioned one produces a less rounded and more defined stallion snout. The first and biggest section of the piece goes from the back of the head to the top and beginning of the nose. the second piece starts from the top of the nose to the beginning of the chin. the last trapezoid piece is the chin piece and starts from the beginning of the chin and goes all the way to the neck.
Tutorial for plush:

For those of you who don't know how to sew darts: tinyurl.com/m2fyavn This is all it takes.
This pattern is completely free to use from the kindness of my heart. If you do happen to use my pattern I beg of you to send me pictures and links so I can see your amazing, beautiful, lovely, ponytastic creations. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
EDIT
added part names so the tutorial is easier.
EDIT 2
cleaned up pattern a bit.
EDIT 3
I made the head size smaller and not so gargantuan. Hopefully this will make the plush look more like the actual mlp style. This and other changes and tweaks should probably come as I actually make a plush with this.
EDIT 4
added new stallion head center piece.
EDIT 5
made the legs thicker, added a chest curve in the front, and added a eye to the mare

Hey, I've been trying to perfect my pony pattern forever and finally nailed the body part, but the head is just...impossible. I've gone through about three or four attempts and they all look like freaks of nature. Do you (or anyone else who sees this comment) have any tips for making the snout pronounced and not getting lost in the head, and making the head not too thick or lumpy? This is a mare pattern I'm trying to make, since I've tried your stallion one and it works perfectly

Since different thickness fabrics and obscure the pattern shape, I recommend increasing the snout length, and also making sure the area where the head connets to the snout is sewn as straight as possible, similar to a right angle. The key in sewing is exaggeation to counter act shape lost because of seam allowance. As for the lumpy stuffing, make sure you are stuffing it little pieces at a time, and that it is stuffed very firmly. Happy to help with anything else. Best wishes <3

I hope you'll answer, but are these the cut lines or the sew lines? I'm assuming sew lines, and I'll have to add a couple cms to give it some room, but figured I'd ask.

Do I cut the darts?
Do I cut the sections of the head that are not attatched to the head?
I hope you or someone expirienced will answer

I've just started getting into plushie making, and I'm going to try this pattern.
This may be a dumb question, but do you stuff the head and body seperately and then sew them together, or do you sew everything together and then stuff it lastly?

Is the head center supposed to start on the nose?

KilynnTor In reply to MeggyMorgue [2013-12-26 17:54:07 +0000 UTC]
I started the head center for the stallion from the back of the head where the dart is but it does seem like the mares' can start from the nose.

Thank you very much for this pattern.
Currently making a small 'Time Turner' plush as a gift for a brother in law with this pattern with a slight modification using a sort of faux suede since none of the places around me stock much solid or non dimpled minky. I think next time I'll just order some off ebay though. It's doing fine so far, just counting this first one as an experiment at least to perfect after. Also putting a wire armature inside to allow posing. Already completed a set of sonic screwdriver beaded earrings for the wife of the 'bil', my sister and am considering making her a Rose Tyler mlp plush as well. I have a test collar and tie pattern I want to try on the time turner plush when its done which since I have't found a shared pattern for that, and for when I find one that looks and works correctly, I'd like to publish here on DA.

I use Joann fabrics online store to get most of my fleece, they're having a holiday sale right now so it's a good time to buy. It sounds like your putting a lot of hard work into this and I can't wait to see. :3

I'll have to keep an eye on their online store then because their location nearest us definitely does not carry enough solid minkys. You can see the modifications I made include giving him a open mouth, the wire inside the head helps his mouth grip the screwdriver. Need to ad more width to the gusset though.
I'll be making at least one more of these as a friend of my brother in law now wants one now. As its my first one it has flaws but those flaws also give it character. It's been 10 years since I've sewn anything and CP is not helpful. Hoping on this 2nd we can use the sewing machine.

Awesome pattern! I've been wanting to make a pony plush, and this is perfect Only question I have is about the neck and ear sections of the head. Are those sections marked to just mark where the neck and ears are going to be placed, or are they supposed to be cut out altogether?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
xMischief In reply to IncendiaVirtus [2013-12-18 16:06:52 +0000 UTC]
It's a marker to where you sew the ears and on the neck marker its where you stop sewing and leave a hole for the neck. The neck hole ends right where the dart marker begins.

I love the pattern, I'm making my niece an Alicorn (One of the names for a unicorn/pegasus). I'm confused about the three sections on the stallion head. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to cut the sections apart or sew them differently? I went to the link you provided on this but I'm still confused. If you could give me more details on what to do it would be a huge help, thank you!

gaylaosborne In reply to xMischief [2013-11-26 02:42:37 +0000 UTC]
I think I've got it figured out now. If I'm understanding it correctly I will sew in sections to allow an opening for the neck and than the top portion I sew the head center to the 2 sides of the head. I was confused before because I thought it was saying to cut those sections. If I'm incorrect on how to do this can you please let me know? Thank you for the prompt reply!

xMischief In reply to gaylaosborne [2013-11-26 22:09:37 +0000 UTC]
The head piece already includes a space for the neck, it shouldn't meet the other end of the piece.
You can either cut the head piece up in the three different sections I colored, or leave them as one piece.
Here, I made this to show you where the different sections are suppose to line up.
Hope this solved your problem.
