No one means to stop and stare,You don’t need to even care.
You’re no different from me or them,
There’s no reason to condemn.
If they taunt, don’t give in,
There’s no reason why they should win.
You are you, don’t be ashamed,
You have your problems, no one’s to blame.
When they sneer and call you names,
Carry on with all your games.
Chat as if there’s nothing wrong,
Don’t think that you could soon be gone.
Every breath is a blessing for us,
Your life means so much, so does your trust.
Without your care I would be numb,
Don’t give up, look at what you’ve become.
I believe in you, you’ll be ok,
I’ll be with you every day.
Never will I let you cry,
You’re part of me till the day I die.

I have Cerebral Palsy (it's pretty mild but I still can't walk) so I love this! I ride horses twice a week and hope to compete in the Paralympics as an Equestrian. I don't let my disability stop me from riding whatsoever. My instructor says I'm the bravest kid she's ever met!

I love this. I think it's the best poem about Cerebral Palsy I have seen so far. I dislike being called 'disabled'. One of my friends constantly says 'You're able to do whatever the hell you want to do, so tell your doctor to shut up."

I am disabled myself. I have Spina Bifida. This was an amazing poem coming from an able bodied person. Something I have never heard.

I feel the same way. One of my good friends has CP and gets lots of stares...I get my share of stares as well...people used to stare at my family because they had two adopted children. This is a very beautiful poem.
