Maybe you’ll remember,
Writing some time back,
A poem ‘You’re My Best Friend’
Before I stabbed him in the back.

A special friendship lost,
The one I valued most.
Now all he does is look through me,
Like I’m nothing but a ghost.

And if in a flash I could turn back the time,
To before he was ever thought of as mine,
I’d make him hate me there and then,
Than have him feel this pain again.

His family talk of me to him,
When they ask where I am, doesn’t know where to begin.
And when I think of how we were, I can’t help but cry,
And wonder what would have happened if we had never tried.

I miss talking to him and the way he made me smile,
At first I thought we’d be distant for a while.
But now I see something that makes me feel grim,
I really and truly have lost him.
