Description
New ref for my Warriors fursona, Wolfsong with his new designName-Wolfkit/Wolfpaw/Wolfsong
Age-Young adult
Gender-Male
Clan-ShadowClan
Mother-Squirrelflight
Father-Ashfur
Mentor-Blackstar
Coat Color-Pale grey with various darker grey markings, a lighter grey chest and belly, and one white paw.
Eye Color-Dark blue
Scars-Jagged mark over his right eye and another on the bridge of his nose.
Other Notes on Appearance-Very small for a tomcat and not very filled out. His is bony to the touch, but has a surprisingly plush pelt that frays at the edges. His hair tuft is a signature of his, and he should never be drawn without it.
Personality-Stubborn, loyal, hot-tempered, intelligent, passionate, loyal, impatient, ambitious, dedicated, defensive, but can be enormously loving and compassionate to those that he feels deserve to be treated well. He has the typical ShadowClan fierceness and cunning, and can be too quick to pick a fight, often taking things the wrong way. He is extremely loyal to his Clan, despite not being born into ShadowClan, and he will go to great lengths to prove his dedication. He will defend what he loves and believes is right with tremendous ferocity, and although he is smart enough to know when he’s wrong, he’s too proud to admit it. Once someone hurts him, Wolfsong has a tendency to turn his back on them, believing that ‘if they betray me once, there’s nothing stopping them from betraying me again’. It’s near impossible to earn back his trust once it’s been lost. He has a soft side, though, one so devoted that his few close friends consider him a wonderful cat.
Brief History-His birth was the result of one last fling between Ashfur and Squirrelflight before they split up. He was given up to Tawnypelt in ShadowClan, so that Squirrelflight could keep her promise to care for Leafpool's kits (which hadn't been born when Wolfkit first arrived, prematurely). Most were angry at the kit being accepting into ShadowClan (Tawnypelt covered his scent and told everyone he was the offspring of wandering rouges) and he has long had to work twice as hard to prove he’s half as good. As an apprentice, he rescued Dawnkit, Flamekit, and Tigerkit from a fox, receiving two nasty scars over his face, but earning more of his clanmates respect. He is constantly trying to prove his loyalty to ShadowClan, and the unfolding secrets around him threaten everything he holds close to his heart.

And by 'Acceptable name', I'm suggesting things such as Jayheart. I believe that would fit him very well, considering he's loyal.

No offense, but Wolfsong is... not such a good traditional name. Wolves are not in England, but if your starry is not based in England and somewhere where wolves are common, that's fine! But the suffix -song does not sound right. If it's used in the case that the cat has a talent for yowling and meowing, that's fine. But I do believe that there are plenty of names are acceptable for this cat other than Wolfsong. I really like the art and the design, those are great!

Um, you do realize that there were wolves in the Warriors series right? At the beginning of Power of Three: Eclipse Brook notes them howling in the mountains. That's why I thought Squirrelflight (Wolfsong’s mother), would know what they are. She was up and down the mountain range after all, and spent a lot of time with the Tribe. Plus, there's a cat mentioned in Code of the Clans named Wolfkit/Wolfheart.
And saying 'song' wouldn't work for the second part of his name doesn't really make any sense. I mean, wolves howl, which could be considered a 'song' to a cat just as much as a bird's song. I mean, do you think Larksong could yowl or meow well? That’s like saying you think Mothwing can fly because she has the word ‘wing’ in her name. And I wouldn’t name him Jayheart because in the story he interacts with Jayfeather (his cousin) a lot and it would be really confusing.
I appreciate the compliment and that you really do seem to believe that you’re being helpful, but that doesn’t mean I necessarily like it. I mean, there are lots of names that stretch probability way further than mine, like Dragonheart or Phoenixstorm (hypothetical names, but they are based on ones I’ve actually seen). When you compare some of the more ridiculous names on DA with mine, it just makes the comment seem sort of pointless and overly strict. That’s one thing about the Warriors fandom I’ve always hated, the obsession over getting everything exactly, 100% right, even when the books themselves aren’t perfect. I mean, cougars aren’t even native to England, but yet they had one be the central villan of Moonrise. Honeyfern, Poppyfrost, Smoketalon, and Owlwhisker make absolutely no sense as legitimate names, but yet they belong to canon characters. So please, I know you had good intentions, but please put more thought into your comments, and try to spend as much time encouraging people as criticizing them.

Side note: Regarding -wing, that demonstrates an exceptional talent of jumping. ^-^

Really? I did not know that. I hate to think of what 'flight' must mean though I think Squirrelflight got that name because she ran off with Brambleclaw like that. Though I'm still lost on Birchfall's name
and it doesn't help that they changed his color from gray to brown so that he doesn't even look like a birch tree anymore. The Erins have really got to start taking better notes

I believe 'flight' means the same thing as wing. But that still makes no sense. I agree on the Birchfall thing... maybe his special talent is clumsiness? XD Now I'm imagining Birchfall with a cutie mark... XD Besides, if he was brown, why are Dovewing and Ivypool white and gray? XD
Yeah, they made poor Heavystep die two times and then said he was in WindClan and changed Whitestorm's eye color from amber to yellow to blue and repeat in every book. XD

Yeah, and have Squirrelflight talk about how to have a vigil (in Code of the Clans) when she's like the only character who didn't have one. And poor Scourge who's still squeezed into that collar he's been wearing since he was like six weeks old. And you are so right about the Ivypool and Dovewing thing! Cat genetics just go totally out the window in the Warriors series Like, how do you mix two gray cats (Millie and Graystripe) and end up with a solid brown (not possible unless the cat is purebred, or so I've heard) and a tortie cat? I'm lost

Sometimes I just want to look at the four of them and facepalm. And I'm pretty sure it's impossible for a ginger (Rowanclaw) and a tortie (Tawnypelt) get a cream colored cat (Dawnpelt). Or Moonflower and Stormtail? Where does white come in? *Clutches hair and pulls* Why must you be so difficult to understand?

I see what you mean about the whole, "They've heard of wolves" thing, but they never actually saw the wolves, so how would they know what they look like? Only Jayfeather knows their scent. I also see what you mean about Jayfeather being his cousin, but that was just a random prefix for a gray cat that I thought of. Besides, he could also be named after Jayfeather, as Tigerheart was named for Tawnypelt's father. However, I was suggesting a traditional name. Erin usually doesn't stick to the traditional name basis in the newer books, which bothers me greatly. They basically were too lenient with names. The suffix has been used in the books, I agree, and I can respect what you said about that. But the suffix should represent a talent, and the Erins just threw that away. the Warriors fandom can have extremely ridiculous names. Such as Cygnusnova, one I've actually seen. I never meant to offend you, I'm really sorry for that. But most of the Warriors fandom is strict for the wrong reasons. They're all worried about the damn color of Scourge's collar or SCOURGE-ONEE-SAMA IS MIEN U STAY AWAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I'm lenient about the whole 'Scourge issue' regarding things such as Revengeshipping (I do not ship it though), his collar color (personally I make it orange), and his fangirls. And what you're saying about Moonrise is incorrect. The main antagonist was a mountain lion, not a cougar. Again, I'm sorry. It was only constructive criticism, and I was not insulting you as a person. I'm only suggesting a slightly more traditional name. I applaud your resilience though, even after I constructively criticized you. I respect you for taking the time to write out a very detailed and smart response. I respect you for everything else too. Your art is phenomenal, and your OC's aren't mary-sue, unlike a lot of the fandom. Thank you for giving me the opportunity of having a heated discussion with someone who actually knows what they're talking about and won't yell at me for my views.

Okay, I respect that but I think I'll stick with Wolfsong as a name. Oh, by the way, a mountain lion and a cougar are the same thing
they're also called pumas. I just like cougar better because it's short and sweet. And I always thought that the Tribe would know what the wolves look like and might have mentioned it to Squirrelflight. But the Wolf part of his name had more to do with the fact that she wanted him to be strong and fierce than the color of his coat (though that was one reason). Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. Thanks for the in-depth response, it's nice to see someone who actually knows how to have an intelligent debate

Regarding the mountain lion thing: Sometimes I wonder about my brain... XD
Ahhh. As in, when they were going through the mountains on the first trip? That makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up. I get it now. ^-^ Sorry again.

No, he thinks he's the son of rouges. He'll find out later in the story, but it doesn't go over well. It actually goes with Ashfur going crazy, because in my fan fiction he finds out Wolfsong is his son the night before he tries to kill the others (in case you don't know, kits from one litter can have multiple fathers). Squirrelflight tells him that he is her son the night Hollyleaf tells everyone at the gathering that the other three are not her kits.

I made it up, I don't even know you. I used 'Wolf' like Wolfheart and 'Song' like Larksong or Echosong, you don't own the name, so don't be rude to me. Besides, I looked in your gallery just now and couldn't find any character named Wolfsong. *WindWolf13 has a character named Wolfsong [link] and so does ~RenSheWolf [link] . You shouldn't go around harassing people because you think you’re so special that only you can use a name and anyone else must be ripping you off. And before you accuse me of ‘overreacting’ or ‘flaming you’ you should read your own comment. ‘Where the hell’ is not a reasonable way to start a question, and you should have expected an angry response.
