I get a little tired of people implying (or just outright saying) that anything fatter I draw is always better (no matter how much work I put into something I've just drawn that just happens to look "slimmer" pay no attention to higher quality line art folks!).
I was feeling a bit more irked about it last night than usual, I decided to make a statement with this little "tutorial"
Yes, I could just draw super fat things, yes I could do drawings in 5 minutes flat... why wouldn't I? because I care about quality.
Admittedly I'm just an amature artist, and I don't have nearly as much talent as most people here on DA, but at least I care about some of the art I do.
Bring out the flame throwers

I think the problem is that people who enter this community often do so on the lower end of the maturity pool. Some never grow up.

Ahahaa. Awesome sauce. I've drawn "OMGWTFHUGE", it comes up now and then. Sir, I thank you on the sheer awesome here. I'm tired of seeing really good art passed up because it doesn't hammer the fetish-zone hard enough for some people. This is halarious, and I am totally going to show this around.

Well, I hope it wasn't due to a comment on mine. If I commented about that older version of the character I really thought it was good overall (position, clothing and all), not that it was better because of size...

:applause: It's always good to see people speaking out. I wouldn't sell yourself short, you're a good artist; but I think we all need to break out of our molds and try new things. Keep on stepping on those toes, it's healthy to sometimes.

I get what your saying. Personaily, I don't like that kind of art that much. So you it's cute....but the rest...plain sucks. I prefer women of a more relistic size, like what you do.

well, I wouldn't say MS specifically is the problem really. Its more of an underhanded nature of the community. Its always been there. It was there before PAWG, it will be here long after. Its just that for some reason it seems to reside there more than any other place at the moment. I think the best thing to do is to remind these people that artists are human beings too, not machines. lol

ah yeah, youre talking about the requsting and stuff too. yeah ive noticed these kids have standards higher than the heavens, and expect mroe than adults seem to. i got so pissed when some kid on pawg called Bigcutie's Largenlovely , fugly. god that pissed me off >> shes gotta be one of the best looking bbw models out there in my opinion -.-

For some people it's about the art and for others it's about the fetish. Judging by the flag you've got there in the last step I'd say this is aimed directly at the people who are typing one handed when they actually get around to commenting.
If there's one thing the mindless masses don't care about it's the effort put into a piece. You could spend hours, hell, even days perfecting a drawing and when you post it up alot of what you'll get is "lol tats hawt!!!11".
Take a check around the other WG artists on DA who churn out spheres with faces drawn on them and still manage to pull in about a thousand more favorites just because they can make a few dozen of them per day and thus keep everyone with no taste happy.

I once considered doing an experiment where I'd draw a super 95%-of-the-canvas sized blob with a tiny head and see how many faves it would get compared to my other things.
I think the most important thing is knowing that we could sell out, but we don't.

hmm, interesting points. Yeah its odd how the "community" works sometimes. Its not like I really care about praise or anything, but the situation you just mention certainly makes a lot of what people say about art in general seem pretty hollow.
I think I need to just drop the pinup thing all togeather and focus on something original from now on

nyu *hugs* I can see how that's very annoying. It doesn't matter wether they're big or small. I watch you because of your neat style and awesome coloring. I think that the care you put into your work really shows and it's always awful to not have your quality work appreciated.

To entirely honest with you, I agree with what you're saying here... While sometimes, it is cute and/or fun to see girls on the very large end of the spectrum, I still want them to resemble humans, and not beanbags with a face. I really appreciate it when someone puts forth the extra effort to make a drawing look good, and not just churn out fanservice... I applaude you for stating your point. You have a lot of talent, and it's a shame some people don't see that in your art... and just look at the fact that a girl is chubby or so...
