Er... Innocently walking past the Bahamut was I when I... er... *kicks self*Anyways, I can't believe I ended up making fanart of a game I love so much, something I never really do (perhaps I played too much?
) But er... its not as popular as the other Final Fantasys is it? I wonder why? (perhaps, because it doesn't have any sappy love-y-ness or dramatically emo teary scenes? Methinks that made me love it more!

[Gak! I can't believe I finished something in 2 hours?! (...actually I can. It's that bad. X'D But I'm surprisingly fond of it? I'll move it to scraps later.
)]Sooo... one of those very random doodles that popped up while hacking and slashing away futilely at Yiazmat. Out of all the little stories, one of the few I loved the most was Basch and Gabranth's. How I love knights!
And I was curious about Gabranth even before I started playing. (The armour!) Though, I guess I loved all the charries in their own ways (even Vaan...).I wish Reks had lived though. X( Beh...

This is indeed very, very good. The watercolors are controlled very well. And the fact that you used an assortment of blues and greens and yellows in Gabranth's armor shows that you really know what you're doing in terms of color. And the sense of movement you got in this is really well done.
The only thing thats bothering me is that Basch's eye is a bit too big. Kind of too long, you know? But asides from that, it's pretty much amazing.
And I looove Basch. He's my favorite character.. well.. Second to Balthier that is. But what can I say? He IS the leading man.

Thank you! ^__^ Heh heh... such nice words about my colouring! I really don't deserve them! I actually just dabbed my brush in the first colors in sight, in a total rush to complete this (while fighting away with Yiazmat!).
Yip, I guess I have a tendency to strech the eyes a bit... Eeep! :'D
And, no, no! Basch is the leading man! (Yasumi Matsuno would agree too!!) Balthier can only think he is! X'D (Though I loved Balthier just as much.

The scene on Mt. Bur-Omisace made me feel so sad....the one with Gabranth and Drace...I wanted to hug poor Larsa ;^;

Though I love the typical romance and emoness of the other Final Fantasy games (I agree that's what it is too.

Actually, I really like the typical romance and emo-ness of the other Final Fantasy games too. X'D (I wonder why others hate them so? One gets the same amount of emo-ness in other games too at times?) But I'm an absolute sucker for political-themed games (especially ones that Yasumi Matsuno has had a hand in! X'D).
Oh yes, and I loved how there were no bad guys! Only Vayne, Cid and their ' partner ', who were perhaps good guys in their own way. X'D The characters acting far more natural than in any old FF game, was one other thing that made me love these guys more!

What other games is Yasumi Matsuno involved in that you could suggest then?? ^-^

It's a little late in coming, but Yasumi Matsuno was also the creator of 'Final Fantasy Tactics', which came out at the same time as FFVII but was overshadowed by the more popular main entry. However, FFT is really, REALLY good, with a great and complex story, well-developed central characters and, if you like 'Strategy RPG', a super-fun playing style. FFT is also set in the same world as FFXII, but in a different time period (say, 1000 or so years either forward or back? I'm not entirely sure.)
Another, more obscure Matsuno game is 'Vagrant Story', which despite not have FF in the title is nonetheless set in the 'Ivalice' universe, like FFT and FFXII. It's also a really fun game, with another complicated plot with things that aren't quite as they seem. It's harder to pin down genre-wise though, because it's a creative mish-mash of genres.
You may be able to find them on Ebay or something, though - they're both PS1 games. And FFT had a remake a couple of years back, called 'War of the Lions', on PSP.
He's also known for the 'Orge Battle' series, though I can't tell you much about it given I don't know that much personally.
Of course, you may likely already know all this by now, but I still felt compelled to suggest them. After all, Yasumi Matsuno is one of the best Video Game storytellers of all time, IMO.

Sorry that i'm just now replying... You shouldn't share yourself short, it's really good. I never have much success with watercolor, I usually just use them for backgrounds because that's about as good as I've gotten with them (I'm more of a graphite, color pencil, collage kind of person). Thanks for telling me about your process.

Gosh if you think this is bad than never look at my scraps........you'll faint anyways....... I am liking the Final fantasy dudes, haven't done fanart in years myself, but..... two hours!!!!!! that must be a world record,

I usually don't make fanart at all either (unless if its other people's charries), but methinks sitting at home, with the ps2 once more a huge part of meh life has made me start doodling these. X'D
