Not to be nit picky but hyenas are more closely related to weasels and the mongoose than canines.

I know, hence 'doglike'. They're feliforms. I actually posted this here on dA as an afterthought. On the site where I posted it first and foremost, I specified that these were a few of my favourite 'doglike' cursorial non-arboreal non-grappling carnivores, because you are quite right; hyenas are not canids. However, they have all convergently evolved into fairly similar forms (although the truly doglike hyenas all died out long ago, leaving only the bone-crushing hyenas and the insectivorous aardwolf).
So you're correct, but I also actually know a fair bit about them myself. I should probably update the artists comments, I just figured very few people would care.
