This date is in correct! It was given on March 23, 1775, at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia, and is credited with having swung the balance in convincing the Virginia House of Burgesses to pass a resolution delivering the Virginia troops to the Revolutionary War. For Patrick Henry "I am not a Virginian, I am an American!" proclaimed. Also spoken by Patrick Henry "Caesar had his Brutus; Charles the First his Cromwell; and George the Third [TREASON proclaimed the speaker of the house] may profit by their example. If this be treason, make the most of it!"

I didn't claim that Patrick Henry said that on July 4th 1776, I was just using his quote. Now all we have to do is figure who plagiarized what you wrote first. I found no less than 8 webs sites with the exact same words that you posted. Thanks for the comment.

Freedom is never free, it rquires eternal vigilance. My favourite is "Live Free or Die" where I currently live in New Hampshire USA. Powerful words! [link]
The phrase comes from a toast written by Gen. John Stark in July 31, 1809. Poor health had forced Stark, New Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War, to decline an invitation to an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington. Instead he sent the toast, which said in full:
"Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils."
"Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!"
