Thanks! What was really amazing was that I was able to get a photograph of this nose art without any people in the shot. There was such a large crowd there, it was next to impossible to get clean shots. -YD

Maybe, one of these days. I really prefer to do planes that are in an actual war zone situation, but I do have a lot of reference on this plane.

I have thought about it, I've always liked this plane and it's
such a cool name, maybe one of these days.

You have got a most excellent collection of plane mascots and that particular art form. It's amazing how innocent it all looks considering the history behind the pieces.
Nice shot

I think it is an American thing to look into the face of death and put a good spin on it. It always amazed me that here were these young men, most no more than boys, thrown into this war not of there making and they went into it with a sense of humor and mock courage when deep down they were scared to death. You have to admire their spunk.

We're a hearty bunch, whether that's through breeding, tenacity, or just not having the choice of being other wise I've no clue. I hadn't thought about it until just recently how young they all were, and what it took to do what they did not knowing if they would ever come home. My grandfather started flying then at 19, and I wonder if anyone now would be able to do the same. Makes me glad pbs is doing documentaries on this side now, not just the atrocities they faced.

There is something to be learned from their example. I just learned it a little late. When I was 17 or 18, all I was worried about was girls, partying, Jeeps and going to going to art school (in that order), but these guys at that age were saving the world, amazing. -YD
