Meanwhile, outside.

Before I was arrested, I was out on a haikyo/urbex outing, which is the hobby of exploring abandoned buildings. I usually go about these alone, so I liked updating my Facebook and Instagram throughout my day so that my friends can sort of join me in my solo adventures (as well as know where I am, for safety purposes). On the 22nd hour, I posted this last picture before my feedΒ went silent.

It was my view from inside a squad car.

My friends Samie and Herb, worried that no one had heard from me since, started looking for me. Herb is a university professor, and it's already happened more than once that a student of hers has gone missing for a couple of months or so, only for her to find out later that they had been in jail that whole time, but with no way to contact anyone.

Samie called every police station in Adachi Ward, since that was the location that was indicated on my status update. Every station simply said I wasn't there, until she got to Minami Senju Police Station. They weren't allowed to tell her I was there, yet they can't lie either, so instead she got a very roundabout answer.

It must've been very stressful to be in prison. Not being able to contact anyone just adds to it, not to mention how it must've been for them! It's an... interesting way of Japanese society(?) to handle that, but it also adds some kind of dark humour that the station couldn't lie when they were asked.

The truth is, despite everything, I enjoyed being in prison

I saw some of your comics about it and it seemed like you did meet a nice group of people. I've never been in prison myself so I'm a bit surprised to hear, still. But it's definitely an experience, I can imagine!

"Forget it man, she's gone."

"We're not giving up."

"We've tried everything we can.Β  Nothing has worked. She's gone man.Β  You going to have to accept that!"

"Oh really?Β  Do you think Yapi would give up on you?Β  Or you? Or YOU!?Β  We're not giving up on Yapi.Β  'Cause she would never give up on us. Now get back on those god damned phones."

LOL! Quite short! Just three days I explained the holding policies in the latest page (which is on the Facebook album, but I haven't uploaded it here yet)

exploring abandoned buildings? I cant say I see the appeal. But then not everyone sees the appeal of my hobbies so who am I to judge. Then again maybe it's because there arent any interesting buildings to explore anywhere around here? >w>

To each their own. There are many hobbies that I don't like, like sports and Pokemon Go, but it's usually unnecessary to announce that I don't like them, especially to people who like those hobbies, because what's the point?

Well there's a difference between not liking something and not understanding something. Certain hobbies require a bit of context or background information or other explanation. Like in this case.

I'm not saying I dislike what you do, and I certainly don't mean to offend. I'm merely curious as to why you do what you do. Why go and explore an abandoned building? Is it a thril? Do you like looking at the architecture of it? Do you just wander around the rooms and let your imagination run wild. thinking how some crazy old cat lady lived here? or maybe a businessman with a tragic past? perhaps a combination of all of the above?

I'm not trying to judge or dismiss. Merely to understand a hobby I know little to nothing about.

Okay, thank you for the clarification and I apologize for the misunderstanding. I was thrown off by your wording.

I enjoy abandoned places because it's like stepping into a lost story. It maybe be a bit different in Japan than in other countries, because looters are not a thing here, so when I enter abandoned places, there are still many artifacts left behind by the people who used to inhabit the place. Pictures, furniture, personal effects, etc. One funny example was when I entered a house that was filled with porn.

And yes, some places have interesting architecture, and combined with the overgrowth of nature trying to take over, they make for very nice scenery. And sometimes you get to do something that you otherwise can't do while it's operational -- for example, climbing the rollercoaster track of an abandoned theme park. Many places have a sort of eerie factor to them, too.

Ah I see. I guess that makes sense

Looters are indeed a big thing. If a place is abandoned long enough it either attracts squatters or ends up stripped of anything not bolted down or too heavy to carry off with. Heck people will rip the wiring out of the walls to sell the copper. since its worth a pretty penny.

Also apoligies for the misunderstanding. English not being my native language I sometimes fail to properly convey the meaning of my words.

I can just imagine: "While we can't say she's here, we could say that, within this reference of space and time, it is not completely impossible that 99.9% of her every atom might exist here. We can't say she's here with us, but we can, through diffuse logic, say that she's within a 100 meters radius from this telephone, with a 90% of truthness backing our statement. Flip a coin, if it is heads, she could be here, if it is tails, she might be here."
