We haven't had any internet in the past 3 days, so out of boredom I decided to check out my old pieces and came across one that was one of my favorites when I was a bit younger. It's a pic of four characters of mine from an original story I used to work on. Looking at it made me cringe in shame at how terribad my proportions were, ahahaha.So... I decided to try redoing the picture! Not a big fancy redo, but just a quick sketchy one to see how it would have looked if I drew a little more properly back then! I also tried to keep as much of the old style as possible, which is why they don't really look the way I normally draw people nowadays.

It's a bit disappointing though how little improvement there was considering the amount of time that has passed since then first drawing, but, well... something is better than nothing, no? Hehe

You've improved lots! It's just that your style is very simplistic - and as you said in another comment, you're the one who drew them both so it's harder for you to really spot differences. Anatomy, and the way the fabric flows are the first things that catch my eye. Even though it's obvious the newer is pretty quick and sketchy, the linework is still more fluid than in the old version. :>
What I love about your art is actually how simple it seems, yet I just can't get the same kind of feel in any of my coloring as you do no matter how I try!

Seriously, hon, if you could just gain some distance, you'd know why we're all "wtf, Yapi, of course you improved!" Β ^_~
I sort of miss the fish from the 3rd pose, though. Β It made it more obvious that it was supposed to be water. Β And the landscape behind that incredibly hot redhead there... Β
Still. If i could draw figures half as well as you do, I'd actually post them, lol. Β

Aaah, perhaps I wasn't too clear! I do feel that I improved! I was just saying that I don't feel like I improved well enough given the number of years that have passed since then! I feel like given all that time, I should be much better! But still, I'm happy I improved anyway ^^
Haha yeah, I miss the fish as well, but I just looked at it and went... "Effort? NOPE." I am a lazy sack of shit T_T

I agree with ~JPG816 artists are their worst critic cuz I feel the same when I look at my own but you have to understand that your are drawing much better and if you don't see that at the very least you know for sure that your coloring skills are blowing the old one completely out of the water!

Ah, thanks! Well, I'm not saying I didn't improve AT ALL (haha I can at least see that!), just not as much as I would have wanted to! But like I said, something is better than nothing, haha!

Seriously, wouldn't have paid the original much attention. The new one actually made me click it when I saw the thumbnail just because I was curious what you drew, and with all the vibrant colors.
...skin may or may not have helped, admittedly. I PLEAD THE FIFTH.
