Description This is a picture of the Queen of Hearts as I would picture her. Sitting upon her throne she waits for the next person for her to play with and steal thier heart, and not by the means of love. This Queen has no love, and she lost it long ago when another had stolen her own heart and now she steals other to try and find something to substitute for her own which is missing. Along the way she picked up gunnary (which she has quite a collection of). She steals hearts and locks them away for all eternity and for those who attampt to get them back must make a deal with the Queen much like you would if you were to make a deal with the devil, which means there are consiquences to getting it back. Most people don't survive long enough to get thier hearts returned to them and the queen sees to that.

I worked 40-50 hours on this piece, and I like it very very much. I never worked so long or so hard on a piece before and I think from now on I am going to work on pieces much like I did this one. I like the quality of it much more then I do some of the other one's I did. So please tell me what you think of this piece! Full View Please! You get to see more detail! I think I am going to add a little more to it but not much.

If anyone would like a print of this piece let me know or a shirt and I will set it up so that you can get one, as long as there is enough demand for it.

Awesome work! If you find yourself inspired to make a more compact version, you should start making a deck out of it!

I want to hear some of the stories about those who made deals with her...

The white strings are a little off putting, especially the tangle at the top of her chair, as there's no shadows where one thread crosses another.

However, I love the rest of it. Very nice detail. Love the gun.

This is really very good! I like the concept a lot - those threads look like webs, which gives this a dark, kind of creepy look . The only thing that looks odd are her legs... her 'under leg' looks a little disjointed from her hip, but since I know crossed legs are a bitch to draw, I commend you

First of all, let me say that I really like the piece, but there are a few problems I see.
Constructive Criticism:
She appears to be missing her right arm completely, her hair is level, but her head is slightly tilted so that if she were looking straight at you, the hair volcanos or whatever you call them, one would be sticking off the top of her head, the other sticking down on the side, the handle of the gun is not in line with the rest of the gun, if you tweaked it in photoshop to turn the handle a few degrees, it would look much better, shadows, you should if you get the chance, decide where the main source of light is coming from, and draw shadows into the picture to make it come that much more alive, and finally, her legs look quite off, her right leg looks as thin as a ribbon at the hip, and the bottom leg just doesn't seem right.
On a stylistic note, you might consider drawing a scar in her cleavage to emphasize the missing heart.

I am putting you on deviant watch since you do very good work.

If her torso is shifted to the right, her right leg woudln't cross over her left leg like that. As it is, her right thigh is too long.

Aside from that it looks really good! S&M Queen of Hearts... Nice!

Lovely detail you have captured here! I really like how there is a whole scene here, and not jus the chracter.
Nice color choices, the colors are nice and bold and work very well with each other.
You have doe an awesome job with the hading of this piece, especially on her skin. And the candles look fabulous. Coloring n the comp is just so hard in my opinion, yet you make it look easy....LOL... well, aybe not afer spending 40- 50 hours on t! Nice dedication you have for working on thepiece.

Great job!

VERY good work! This is really impressive, it reminds me a lot of alice in wonderland's queen of hearts. I really like the black and white tiles, just 'cause they're always cool. The candles in the back are extremely well done, I like the drippy wax effect a lot. Most of all, though, I think I like the way the queen's face is made. The lips and eyes are really cool!

really impressive, good work!

This is very good. Did you draw it by hand and then scan and color or what? The quality of this one is excellent.

Yasuelf101 In reply to silentspectre [2006-02-01 14:56:14 +0000 UTC]

I draw the picture by hand, scanned it in, took it to photoshop and then colored. The big diffrence between this piece and my normal pieces is that I did not put an outline on anything! I love this style much more then any of the other ones but you can't really do this style without a wacom tablet. Mouse is much to difficult to control.

Hey wow!! This really turned out good!!! Love the candles, lol love what she's wearing!! I particularly like the chair... it's sooooo fitting!! My only suggestion would be to have a little more detail on the gun. It seems a little unrealistically smooth and inacurately shaped. You could do some research by going to several different firearm companies' websites and look at the product line. They should have some pretty big pictures there for you to get ideas from... Glock, Smith & Wesson, Colt, Walther, Magnum, etc. Just some thoughts.

Looks really nice. However the only thing I find not smooth enough to compliment the rest of the work is the mist, it has many sharp borders. My personal choice would be to blur them, (via Photoshop preferently) unless this kind of borders has been done "ad hoc" of course.

Anyway it's a great piece.

She's very very good. I have no problem believing you spent that much time on it. The row of candles is awesome. Maybe the rocks look a bit too smooth, almost like marble.
The white strings hanging are probably replacing the hearts that I read about in the comments, I didn't see them originaly. Anyway, I like the strings, they are simple but, work really well.

Yasuelf101 In reply to BLueStormDragoN [2006-01-30 02:40:41 +0000 UTC]

The hearts that we were talking about were not really hanging from the celling but what it was, was that there were bird cages with hearts inside them. I am probably going to redo the cages (which was the part that looked really really bad). Thanks about the candels. They took forever! >.< I am not really sure what rocks you are talking about though... *scratches head* You mean the black and white floor? I spent so much time on this piece though. It's been like a few weeks now that I have worked on it. I just never spent that long and I see people who load pictures 10x better then mine and they load like 3 at a time...I dont get it... I keep figuring I am doing something wrong... I think I had like over 60 layers on this piece and it took forever to load into photoshop.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BLueStormDragoN In reply to Yasuelf101 [2006-01-30 07:32:33 +0000 UTC]

The rocks I was talking about are the ones that the candles are resting on, above the floor. A floor, that is VERY well done, by the way.
Puting back the bird cages sounds like a good idea.
As far as the photoshop loading slowly, it might be your computer. I have a dinosaur (800 mhz, 384 sdr ram) so I almost can't use photoshop for anything big. I have to try and keep my layers to a minimum.

The main character is kickass, really well drawn and very stylish.

The 'caged hearts' are poor quality in comparison - I almost closed the tab halfway through loading the picture just because they looked so cheap.

I'd lose them all together and redraw one with some shading and tonal variation - the flatness of them and their cages really spoils what is otherwise an awesome picture.

And that's funny about the Melbourne thing, i didn't know that!
