Thanks again and much huuuuuuugz to for the designs and character sheet.
This time, the character is Lisa Marie Simpson. I kept some aspects of her physical appearance the same. Namely, she still wears a loose red dress and a faux pearl necklace (You thought it was real? How could Homer afford that??
). But the triangular-cut hem and the spiky hair I threw out. As Matt Groening has stated in some interviews, he never intended originally for the spiky haircuts to stay; that was simply so that they had easily recognisable silhouettes for ease of drawing. But the network liked them so they stayed. This hair is more natural though.
I also asked him to add straps to her dress because strapless dresses are, I think, intended for older girls (when there's enough of a chest to hold them up). Commissioned by me from Palcomix, many thankies to *bbmbbf for his artistic skillz.

I was surprised when I first learnt that Groening's original designs were something he hurriedly came up with just before the initial pitch meeting - just to make them instantly recognisable by silhouette alone (because he suddenly realised that he didn't want to turn his comic strip into a cartoon series because he'd lose creative control of his characters - so he made up the Simpsons on the spot). He never expected the animators to keep those ridiculously un-humanlike designs for the show proper. xD

Tracey ullman created the simpson, and they looked just how they did when the show started. She made shorts about them, I seriously hate that this woman doesn't get acknowleged in the credits. But Matt Browning did not come up with the simpsons characters, he just created the show. They always were the animation they are now, just more lazily drawn

Actually, he did come up with them. He originally had a meeting with the Fox execs to pitch a cartoon series to them, and was going to pitch his "Life in Hell" comic strip. But then he found out (at the last moment) that if they decided to make a show out of his comic strip, he'd lose the creative copyright on his characters that he had made and used for years. So just before he was called in to the meeting, he set about designing a new cartoon family (who would eventually be known as The Simpsons).
His hand-drawn designs for them were very crude, and had oddly-shaped (and spiky) irregular heads/haircuts, to make them easily distinguishable. He thought that the animators would clean up the shapes and make them more human-looking, but they didn't. The first animated shorts made by Fox depicted the Simpson family EXACTLY as Groening originally drew them. These shorts were aired in the Tracey Ullman show (which was a sketch show. She didn't create the Simpsons, they just appeared on her show).
Later, when Fox decided to make full-length 25 minute episodes of The Simpsons for their own show, the animators did clean up the designs but still kept the distinctive spiky shapes for some reason.

Yeah, I like the character of Lisa Simpson but I've never been particularly fond of her (or any of the other characters') design in the show. I also had Maggie completely redesigned to be just 1 year younger, as well as Bart (but he didn't come out so well...)

Yeah, I don't know quite what I was going for with Bart (everybody assumed I gave him green hair, not that it was dyed...lol!), but I'd love to see a cartoon where the Simpsons characters are all more realistic, especially if Lisa and Maggie both got to look this cute.

I had no idea who that is, I've never watched that series so I had to look her up...
Eh, I guess there is a similarity. But I was going for making theΒ Simpson kids look more realistic, and let's be honest, Lisa's normally spiky dress and hairstyle are very unrealistic.
