Description
I commissioned this beautiful picture from ~xaznminigrlx very recently, of one of my original characters. Her name is Maria, and she is a sub-heroine (less super than a superheroine, or even just a heroine XD) called Beach Babe. Maria is her identity when she's just a civilian. When she transforms, she becomes Beach Babe.Beach Babe's character bio can be found by clicking on this [link] .
===========================
Maria's character bio (if you don't care, just scroll past this stuff. ^^)
Name: Maria Hernandez
Role: Civilian identity of Beach Babe
Super-weight: -1
Nationality: American
Ethnicity: Spanish-American descent
Place of residence: Costa Diamante, a fictional costal town in the far south of California.
Age: 13
Date of Birth: May 8.
Height: 5'4"
Weight (nude): 8st 10lbs
Hair colour: Black, usually with subtle home-made tint
Eye colour: Chestnut brown
Skin colour: White, usually quite pale thanks to strong suncream SPF75+
Usually seen wearing: School uniform (School rules dictate uniform must be worn at all times outside of the home on days attending school or school-related functions)
White or royal blue headscarf, tied around the hair; hair to be worn comfortably in a single ponytail at the back.
White blouse with wing-collar, 3/4-length sleeves, fully buttoned-up.
Tie, tied in a Windsor knot; royal blue.
Knee-length skirt, royal blue.
School uniform-issue flip-flops, in white or royal blue (school insignia pressed into the soles).
Sexuality: Lesbian (in the closet)
Previous relationships: None.
Current relationship: None. Has been secretly in love with her best mate, Rosita Guerrera, for some years.
Superpowers: None
Special abilities: None
Combat training: None
Weapons: None
Other items carried: As she's a schoolgirl...typically her satchel with her schoolbooks and stationery, and a gigantic hardbacked tome entitled Encyclopædia Melodramatica.
Intelligence: Average
Grade average: C+
Strength: Slightly below-average.
Personality: Often fairly shy and quiet around most people, but more outgoing around those she knows well and likes, such as her best mate Rosita Guerrera, her mother and father, and Rosita's parents, as well as one or two of her favourite teachers. Academically, she is not particularly bright, but studies a lot in her free time and really tries to better her grades, with only marginal success (eg. occasionally a B- instead of a C+). Is often picked on by other students as being nerdy (not because of high grades, but studying a lot), anti-social (due to her shyness), taking part in unpopular extracurriculars (drama club, usually backstage, and chess), and sometimes just being downright odd (always bringing her huge encyclopædia to school).
Has only one friend, Rosita Guerrera, who is thereby her best mate; they have known each other since they were born (Rosita just
before midnight May 7, Maria just after midnight May 8), and their mothers were best friends since kindergarten. Maria is secretly in love with Rosita, but too shy to voice her feelings and too scared that they would not be reciprocated (or worse, that it might ruin their friendship). Is universally considered by boys as not worth dating, which is just as well as she has no interest in them anyway. Also has a small crush on her (female) Drama teacher.
Greatest wish: To come out to Rosita and be her girlfriend...and snog Rosita silly.
Friends: Beach Babe (alter-ego), Rosita Guerrera.
Characters of Maria Hernandez, Rosita Guerrera, and Beach Babe are © me.
All the pretty artwork is © to ~xaznminigrlx .

Been passing by this picture from time to time but faved only now because of sudden attack of childhood nostalgia. I like the amount of effort you have put to come up with a thoughtful description and the artwork itself is really good too - her face came out cutely round and I enjoy the summer atmosphere.
I pretty much love the idea of flip-flops (or other types of sandals) being an integral part of female school uniform so even reluctant students had to wear them.

Thank you, I'm glad that the cuteness of this character finally got you to fave her.
Yeah, I believe that if you're going to create a character, you should at least try to come up with some basic information about who they are. As to the art, well, I can only thank for that. And finally, flip-flops as regulation school uniform footwear would be awesome! ...but here in the UK, it'd be too wet and/or cold for several months of the school year for kids to be wearing them about.

You're welcome. This reminds me that I need to arrange character sheets for my characters too.
And speaking of flip-flops, it's almost impossible to make them part of the uniform in our place as well for the same reasons + because there weren't (and aren't) any uniforms. Although there were girls who dared to try and come in class sporting them (I'm now referring to the whole group of open-toed footwear) causing some whispering and comments and attracting attention since wearing such footwear to school was allowed but was considered a little bit unsuitable and impolite. And this experience continues to influence my artistic ideas in some way even so much times had passed since then. Two of my characters have sandals as parts of their uniforms, that's why I payed so much attention to this aspect in your picture.

Ah, that's interesting to know. Here in Britain, most schools have a compulsory uniform code.
My secondary school was an all-boys school, so there were no girls at all to admire. Well there were a few in the post-16 classes but we never really saw them about the place. My primary school however required smart black school shoes for all children during the winter, but in the summer term (Easter-mid July) the footwear rule was relaxed to allow any footwear that fastened up somehow. So a lot of the girls chose to attend in various styles of sandals (as long as it didn't rain; the boys generally stayed in shoes or wore trainers).
I have rather a foot fetish - even as a young boy of 7 or 8, I already was fascinated by the pretty feet of my female classmates, and so the summer term with all their feet in sandals, fidgeting idly under their desks as they focused on their work, made focusing on my own work rather...distracting. But oh so pleasant.

We also had a compulsory uniform (search for Soviet school uniform if you want to see how it looked ) but it had been abolished as a relic of socialism by the time I went to school. So everybody had freedom to dress as they wanted limited only by individual's (and family's) norms of what's appropriate and not .
Since school was considered as a sort of office by unofficial common opinion of that time, the style loosely copied those dress-code patterns in primary school becoming gradually more liberal as students grew up and fashion changed. Although open footwear on bare feet remained a pretty rare encounter through all school years. We don't study in summer months at all, starting in the beginning of September (and it gets too cool in the third decade ) and finishing in the end of May (and it usually gets warm enough in the beginning of second decade ) and many girls simply preferred closed shoes with pantyhose to attract less attention and comments of all kind and be "like everybody else".
Judging by the last paragraph I think we may have similar interests in certain aspects although I don't call my interest a fetish. As I've noticed in English this word covers a pretty wide range of interests but in our culture this is mostly referred to "disturbing images and thoughts of dirty nature associated with an object of desires that strongly influence person's behavior and it's interaction with the world around and that are hard or impossible to control" - a sort of last step before becoming a maniac.
For me seeing bare foot flashing among closed shoes was emotionally similar to watching a favorite TV show or reading a good book and over time it evolved over artistic path rather than fetish. So a certain foot focus and everything related to it is a mandatory part of all my existing and probably all future characters.

Yep, I do indeed. I wish flip-flops were a part of school uniform - for the girls at least. But it's a part of Maria's schools' uniform, so her friend will be sporting a pair if I get her drawn too. ^_^
