Description
Dusk was dying, giving way to the night and the moon. A gentle yellow glow illuminated all, the harvest face in the sky drawing near as if to warm the land with its light and color.

Skilpadde was no longer sure of where he was, and he wouldn't have cared, only the passing people as he sat under a tree reminded him of the passing time. Little by little they dwindle in the square. Ten. Six. Three. One.

The man... or was it a woman, stayed behind, and seemed to have no intention of retiring for the night. Skilpadde watched from the shadows, intrigued by their behavior and his eyes captured by the way the light danced on their red hair.

He stood, curiosity overcoming him and called to the stranger.

"Ho there!" They turned, startled by his sudden appearance. And even facing him, Skilpadde could not be sure of his or her gender, as the cloak hid most of their frame and the gentle fog bouncing back the light of the moon obscured much. Or...

His eyes widened as he watched their feet disappear and much of their body become transparent, the stucco walls of the shops behind showing through. He brought his eyes back to their face, where their right eye was glowing, a small white circle in a pool of black sclera.

Skilpadde felt the corner of his mouth tug up in a crooked grin. The world was full of interesting creatures.

Ah well....

A little background on Skilpadde:

In context of the Hyrule Battle Tournament, he lived a long time before OoT, during the early great wars in Hyrule. He served in the military of the king, and in the last battle he was in, his right arm was severed, midway between the shoulder and elbow joint. While lying on the field, a necromancer happened by and was using his skills on the fallen dead. However, since Skilpadde was not dead yet, only wavering between, the magic did curious things to him, and he found himself to be essentially immortal.

Glad to find himself alive, he didn't think anything of it till he came home. He'd found that years had passed without his realizing and his wife had remarried. After a few days of discussion with her and her new husband (fists weren't used, as being one arm short, Skilpadde was at a sever disadvantage, but hard words were not left out) he decided that it was best for her that he not intrude on her new life any further.

He'd tried finding the necromancer to undo the magic works that wrought his new state, but even he didn't know how he'd ended up in the strange predicament.

So he spent his years wandering, with nothing more to do than people-watch as he passed through towns. He's bee unable to find any kind of work as a laborer, and if not for his decreased need to eat, he would have died of starvation.

Skilpadde means turtle in Norwegian or something.
