Description

This is for mikuleeklover  who is new to MMD… I really hope this is understandable… ^.^’

This is my VERY FIRST tutorial! XD

One major thing to keep in mind. If the part is coming from another model YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO DO SO!!!!
The owner will let you know if you can or can't take parts!!!
Also delete ANY extra physics left after transferring the part! ^.^

I tried to explain things the best I could. My laptop was wanting to be a pain through the whole thing so I’m sorry for the crappy text.

I did actually finish the model. She just is lacking physics. ;^;

I haven’t had much time lately to do anything really… I really need to finish a recording for a voice bank trade right now.. ;-;

I used my UTAU Aoi Tori to narrate this for us. >_<

I hope I did a good job.

I looked at other tutorials for an idea of what to do.

I know this is another tutorial for something else but when I'm weighing something for some reason the weighting picks another part of the body that I can't undo and I don't know how to fix it I look it up but I can't seem to find the answer to it

hi! i was trying to rip some hair from a model, and it turns out the eyes are on the same piece as the hair model 0.0 i've tried looking everywhere on what to do to get rid of it, but i can't seem to figure out how. would you happen to know what to do? thanks!

Hi! To fix this select the vert that is part of the eyes, then use ctl s to separate them, it will turn that part into its own new tab titled "new"
To delete this, just go to that tab on the mat/vert and select it.  Hit ctl p and yes. This should fix the problem!

Hi! I saw that you were willing to put together a model for another person and I was wondering if you could do the same for me? I want to use these models for a motion but I want them to have matching outfits. Ill send it all in a zip file if thats okay! Just tell me! I understand if you can't.

Hi, I like the tutorial but unfortunately it appears I'm super incapable. If I sent you all the parts that I want on my model, including the base and everything, could you maybe compile it for me and send it back as a .pmd ?
If not don't worry about it, I'll just.. never have my own character in mmd ;-;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yonells In reply to LaexTheCat [2018-01-14 05:44:26 +0000 UTC]

It's totally fine if you do that~
Just load it all into a rar on sta.sh and I can download it ^ . ^
I typically work with pmx, and it's possible that in the end that's going to be the format. Now if you use the newest version of MMD it won't be a problem ^ . ^

When I try to load the second model it looks all white, what do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yonells In reply to withebag [2016-11-11 17:44:25 +0000 UTC]

What you need to do is make sure all the textures files, spa and toons are all within the folder containing the part you wish to take. Now, the textures, spa and toons you bring over only need to be the ones for the part you wish to take. If you are placing them within say a folder titled tex, you would need to put \tex[texture name here]. This allows you to keep your folders neat and organized. An example I can give would be, say I wish to take a hat from a model rip. The texture corresponding with the hat is titled too1.png. I would only take too1.png and put it within my folder. From there I would go onto pmd/pmx editor and change the file local to tex\too1.png.

I really hope I made sense and am able to help. If none of this made sense to you, or you have further questions feel free to ask. You can either note or leave reply, I will get back as soon as I can.

This tutorial helped me a lot ^^ Just wanted to ask, though, when making headswaps, do you know which you're supposed to load first - the model with the body you would like to use, or the model with the head you would like to use?
Thank you~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yonells In reply to YunaDarkrayne [2016-11-11 17:46:05 +0000 UTC]

You would load the body first, drag it down then load the head. Adjust everything from there. Heads can be a bit of a pain to add to a model, but they're also quite easy. If you try to load the head first the weighting to the body will get all wonky and not load properly to the head. The body should almost always be loaded first. I have never came across  situation where loading the head would come first.

I've been trying to add a head from one model to the body of another. I am not sure how to do weighting... (I think my mistake was that I loaded the head first, but i'm not sure. the head didnt move with the body, and the neck just stretched out all weirdly whenever the body moved) Sorry, I know this is an old post but I've been desperately trying to find a good tutorial for taking a head from one model and attaching it to a body ;w;

I'd really appreciate any assistance thank you so much!

Yonells In reply to Merieth [2017-07-07 23:58:22 +0000 UTC]

I can attempt to make a tutorial for it~
It would be easier for me to make a tutorial rather than trying to explain through text (the images will make everything 100x easier)

Actually, if this would be easier you could just send me the base and head you would like and I can set everything up (I enjoy helping others XD)

Merieth In reply to Yonells [2017-07-08 00:48:05 +0000 UTC]

a tutorial would be AWESOME!!! thank you so much ;www;

I would love to learn how to do it myself!! that is very kind of you. hmmm, what if I sent you the body im trying to use and the head and maybe you could make a tutorial out of it? I'm really determined to learn and get better with MMD but it's so hard to find good tutorials lol >.<;;

the head itself is from a model ripped from a game (it is rigged too, and I have their permission to make new outfits and stuff, but i probably wont redistribute even though it's allowed).

I deleted all the unneeded physics/joints/bones from the head's body (I think, I'm pretty sure I didn't mess this part up...but not sure I'm a newbie still lol)

I'd love to repay you somehow for your help ;www; other than my eternal gratitude of course lol. thank you so much!!

I have to resize the body a bit so it's kind of the proper height, and then I'll send you a note with the head and the body. again, thank you so so so much! I would really love a tutorial just so I can learn because I don't wanna be someone who is like, omg, please make this for me senpai! lol i want to try to learn too ;www; even if im a super newb....

anyway thank you again! I'm gonna resize the body now and stuff, then I'll send a note sometime today ^^ really thank you so much!!

thank you again!! I really really appreciate it

I won't be able to get started on the tutorial until sometime tomorrow or the day after... it'll depend on how much energy I have after work tomorrow ^ .^

I'm glad you have been able to find people willing to help you. When I first started I had the opposite experience. No one really wanted to help me XD
I also started using MMD when it first started coming out and everyone treated everything like some CIA secret though too < . >"

Merieth In reply to Yonells [2017-07-08 03:51:14 +0000 UTC]

alrighty, no problem at all take all the time you need! lol omg I know how that is...sometimes i just wanna collapse and sleep for days after work >.>

yes, so far I've had good experiences in the MMD community.

oh wow D: that sucks. omg, you're a veteran huh? lol I just started using it maybe last Fall, and I was super busy during Oct-Dec (thanks to crappy retail job) so I didn't really start practicing until this year. I notice a lot of the tutorials I find are almost a decade old and it's so frustrating when the interface in the tutorial is totally different than mine and the hotkeys dont work omg xD so I tend to get mad and stop practicing for a while lmao like OMG NO, IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!!

generally i at least try to figure it out...but when wonky stuff like this cdn.discordapp.com/attachments… happens I want to ask for help LOL

it's a shame to hear that people weren't so helpful back then >.< but thank you for not being like them! I really appreciate you MMD gods helping newbies like me lol xD

I'm going to try and use the other tutorial you just made to see if I can figure it out and get it working. I'll let you know how it goes lol and if I can't do it, I'll await your tutorial ^_^

thank you again!

Yonells In reply to Merieth [2017-07-08 04:55:11 +0000 UTC]

lol I know the feeling of MMD fails... even old users like me run into stuff like that when you forget even the smallest thing (or your model crashes when loading into MMD and you just wasted five hours of your life.... *crawls into a hole and dies*
Haha I may be pretty decent at MMD but I'm not god XD

Well, back then it was everyone thought you needed to figure it out yourself because they had to... It was just that mentality. Thankfully down the road, I was able to meet a friend of mine who has helped me improve my MMD skills and brought me to where I am today.

Recently when I was working on a model I didn't weight his fingers correctly and they looked like that neck there lmao
From the looks of the photo, it's a weighting issue. I'm super glad my tutorial was helpful for you.

Merieth In reply to Yonells [2017-07-08 05:20:24 +0000 UTC]

lol omg. my older models with dresses I didn't know about bones so I kept using the same model and just deleting the clothes and adding new ones and I couldn't figure out why my models lagged like hell, then i turned off physics and saw 99999999999 bones and was like omg O_O but it was a funny learning experience.... if I loaded the model twice RIP MMD

and well, to a newb like me I think a lot of people are MMD gods lol and im like "man, i wanna be that good/that knowledgeable some day!!" so it's cool having something to strive for and people to learn from

ah yea i see, i figured it was something like that lol. well, the reason why I like MMD is because I have no artistic skill whatsoever but always wanted to bring picture ideas to life...and MMD is perfect for that, like a dream come true -w- that's great you found a good friend with similar interests! it is so much more fun to learn things when you have a buddy with you.

LOL yeah dat neck. I think it was because I didn't have physics on the main body at that point, maybe...not sure, but when I did it like your tutorial it worked \o/ thank you so much for it! I was raging at the program that day when I made the stretchy neck because I had NO idea what i was doing wrong lol ...

....but when i gave the model a dance and the body was dancing with this motionless head and a stretchy neck it was so damn funny i was in tears. damn program so annoying but the screw ups can be hilarious sometimes xD still, I love when I can learn something new and correct my mistakes, love seeing that progress!

is where i got the raw from. :3
I've only used clothes physics on a few of my  models and that is because I made them myself. (so they are really bad)
I only state that if they do have physics because this tutorial was made for absolute beginners, so I was trying to make it so they understood that not moving physics is bad.. Unless it pertains to a different part. ^.^
