Description

Skyrim Desktop - a Rainmeter to control and monitor your Windows!

Top wallpaper is Beauty of Skyrim - IX  by MuuseDesign .

Others can be found on the official TES V - Skyrim page.

Updates:

1.02:

- Included truetype version of Trajan Pro font

1.01:

- Cleaned up the code

- Fixed some window position issues regarding on top / on bottom orders

The skin includes:

- Top dock that can be activated by moving the mouse to the top left corner when desktop is not showing

- Left side bar, a launcher for 5 x 15 applications, and switches mode for bottom bar

- Bottom bar that can be either system monitoring, weather forecast or media control

- Config utility: set your media player, weather location and units, drives you want to monitor, as well as the application categories for the launcher, and the applications themselves; you can just browse for a file to add it to the launcher!

You might have to install the Trajan fonts located in the resources \Fonts folder of the skin manually

Probably adding to the skin later!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How the skin works:

- Top dock in the middle lets you access the sidebar (Start), or turn it off. It also lets you access the system tray, and switch between running applications.

- The config on the top dock lets you configure the launcher's categories, and its applications - 5 x 15 programs. It also lets you configure what media player to use, your weather code and weather units.

- Sidebar launches your programs, or the user's files (documents, etc). It also switches the modes for the bottom bar, or turn it off in case you don't need it.

- Bottom bar has 3 modes. A system monitoring mode, with HDD / RAM / CPU usage, but you can extend it to show the top demanding process, your ping to a given server and system uptime. The second mode is a media controller, with album art, seeking in track, volume control and play/pause/next/prev playback control. The third is a weather display, that can be minimized / extended into 4 days forecast.

- The little transparent Skyrim icon stay on top of open windows, gets almost fully transparent on mouseover, and most importantly when fullscreen, it sets the middle dock in top of other windows unless you move your cursor further away from the dock. By getting it on top though, you can use the left side launcher without interrupting your current work session. After either launching an app with the left side launcher, or dismissing the dock though it's set back to normal (desktop) position.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What next:

I'm planning on making a matching visual style after the final release of the skin, with a simplistic manner, but this time a light one - the frames dark, but the main part of the windows will be light gray (reverse of the original).

It will be a visual style for everyday easy use.

A very early screenshot of the general concept of the color scheme with an explorer window open

That did it! Thank you so much. I didn't know that was a element of MusicBee. Works like a charm now!

I'll install MusicBee myself and see if it works for me or not, might be able to troubleshoot more efficiently afterwards.

What does the dragon on the top left do?

Sorry, never mind, figured it out. Didn't notice the top bar appearing cause of my normal dark desktop and chrome theme.

So, quick question. Say if I wanted this, all I do is download, install, and change it in my themes area in the control panel?

I apologize, I am not too savvy when it comes to computers.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorgash In reply to Khaetek [2014-02-26 23:33:01 +0000 UTC]

It's not a visual style, so you only need to install this with Rainmeter, no need to change the theme of your Windows.

The matching visual style is in the making by the way.

if you are up for requests an "Armored Core" themed desktop would be kick-ass

yorgash In reply to TheSadha77er [2014-02-26 08:14:17 +0000 UTC]

Will see how many requests it will get, I have a list on requests, this time around Warframe seems to be in the lead, but Animus is quite strong.

Not saying I'll make the one with the most requests, but it amounts a lot when deciding what to make next.

I'm usually open to requests.

yugi196 In reply to yorgash [2014-02-26 07:08:53 +0000 UTC]

okay, I was thinking of maybe an Animus from assassin's creed or maybe Bordelands 2

yorgash In reply to yugi196 [2014-02-26 07:23:49 +0000 UTC]

Interesting proposal, the Animus has a lot of potential...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yugi196 In reply to yorgash [2014-02-26 08:11:43 +0000 UTC]

yea ^^ that if you were still accepting request and if its possible to make the Animus

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorgash In reply to yugi196 [2014-02-26 08:15:43 +0000 UTC]

I'm always taking notes of requests, and Animus has a high chance of being my next project, not only because of the number it was requested, but because it does have a nice interface to serve as a base.

Thank you very much!

It took quite a while, but since I've already started making a visual style for Skyrim, I had most of the resources on my computer already - will be releasing some screenshots of the visual style soon, but it will still take quite a lot of time to finish that one

Glenwin In reply to ??? [2014-02-26 05:29:20 +0000 UTC]

How do you uninstall it if you dont want it anymore?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorgash In reply to Glenwin [2014-02-26 05:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Depends on what you want to uninstall.

If you want to uninstall Rainmeter itself, just uninstall it from the programs list; if you want to uninstall the skin then unload them from Rainmeter.

When I click on the start button it does not do anything? do I need to set a path for it or something or is it just not working? any help is appreciated, great theme! keep up the good work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

yorgash In reply to ketolaclayton [2014-02-26 04:56:20 +0000 UTC]

It brings the left side launcher on top of other open windows (useful when browsing fullscreen and want to access the launcher without the need to go to the desktop).

Download and install Rainmeter (rainmeter.net), then simply download the skin (to the right), and run it.

On the right side of the page is the download.

You only need to double click on the skin (given you have Rainmeter installed, that you can get from rainmeter.net)
