...lead me, save me from my solitude...There are so many scenes and moments
that I love about the show,
but if I must choose one, it would be this.
"All I Ask of You (reprise)" is always
THE tearjerker moment for me.
Howard was especially exquisite at this moment last night.
So much so, I just had to doodle this up
after getting home from the theatre.
Not exactly what I had planned for today,
but laundry and cleaning the apartment can wait.

Isn't it wonderful how Erik can be the hero and the villain simultaneously? At least, in this moment. Definitely an anti-hero, or maybe just an irresistible and moving villain...talk amongst yourselves

You are right - his take on the Phantom is so intricate and layered,
I still find something new or different every time I see him...

wow. i favorited this a long time ago, but i must comment.
I agree... this is the first scene in phantom that got me crying... It's definately more emotional on stage than in the movie, i think. You captured it quite perfectly.

Clinging onto the last ray of hope, it only makes him so much more human, and thus dear to me.

yes i agree wholeheartedly.
And with guns pointing at him from every angle, I can't help sensing a sort of courage rising up in him as well. How many times in his life had he been on stage? Much less with the woman he loves? Or witha trap at his heels? Erik's my hero.

I can tell that 'All I Ask Of You (reprise)' is mine favourite scene as well ^^ It's so heart breaking to watch Phantom's sorrow on the stage that it always makes me cry ;;_;;

Yes, I did, and though I personally prefer an older Phantom myself,
I thought the movie did have some really nice moments.
Gerry has become sort of a guilty pleasure for me since then.

I think that's what this scene is all about;
it is so poignant because of its simplicity.
Erik baring his soul, perhaps for the first time, to someone else.
Of course, *someone* rewards him by unmasking him in front of
the whole Opera Populaire...

Aw. That is the way we love Erik. Oh yes. Dark, mystical and powerfull - but also sad. Poor Erik TT I like his outfit - I think capes suits him best :3 (oki, I like his "Red Death" outfit too - but only in the 2004 movie)
The scene you choose was one of my most hated - every time I hear it (and "All I asked of you") I want to kill Roul -_- but I like how you draw this scene!

I'm hoping for an upgrade sometime soon...
I have seen 5 different Phantoms (8 if you include u/s),
but unfortunately Warlow is not one of them.
I have heard he is brilliant, and would kill to see him...
So how is the production going in down under?

heh, i've seen it twice now. Once early last year in Melbourne, then my girlfriend bought me tickets to see it in sydney last month. But it remains the only production of Phantom i've seen live.
As for how it's going, nearly every show is sold out, the sets are amazing, and most of the actors are fantastic. Heh, and gotta love the pyromania in one scene, flames shoot from the stage and i could feel the heat of them half a theatre away.

I love hearing about other people's "Phantom experience".
It helps me remember my first time.
It's always fun to watch people go "ooooooh" as the chandelier rises,
applaud at the reveal of the Masquerade set,
or jump at the pyro, for that matter.
