Erik.... Before you die of lonliness because Christine left you.... 'Please consider me as an alternative to suicide'(Princess Bride elbow). This strangely reminds me of the far cry 4 cover. My ADD brain cannot look at all the Erik art at once...

He doesn't look like he's a reign of terror - he looks like he's just happily waiting for an opera or ballet to begin.

I love it. The colours, the framing of the piece, and his posture espeially. He has such an air of no-shit confidence about him! It's great that you can convey a bit of character with just one drawing.
And, as I mentioned, I really love the thought put into framing it with the curtain, it works really well.

Thank you!
I think how one carries himself say a lot about his character, so I do try to capture that in my drawings.
And Erik, I believe, takes great pride as well as care in how he carries himself to compensate for his deformity, so it is very important to him.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for dropping by.

This is one of a few instances where the idea in my head translated very well into the final product.
Thus, is also one of my favorites...
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Kinda sucks you in, doesn't it?
There is a dark allure about Erik that is quite fascinating to me.
It's always a challange trying to capture it...

You are more adventurous than I.
Glomping him would surely result in the lassoing, at least in my experience...

Actually...glomping him results in him grabbing me by the throat, whirling me about in a circle and throwing me across the room. Then there's a huge hunt for me as I run from him...I'm sure he will eventually try the lasso, but since I'm on Der Tod's good side, I won't die. ^^ I can't wait to see Erik's face when I still glomp him!! XD

Boy...am I random...X3

Hide and seek with the Opera Ghost is always interesting...^^ And then Raoul is being all prissy-diva-boy and annoying me and I throw him into the lake, then Erik grabs him and then I have to save him while Jacqueline distacts him and then Rufe'o flies in and I have to stop him from fighting Raoul and then Abby follows and starts fighting with Rufe'o and then Shini shows up and starts making out wiht Jacqueline (who is his wife so it's okay, but so not in my head!!) and then all the other characters join in and I have to throw them out of Erik's lair and then Elle Woods shows up!! Gaaaaaaah....

And...that's about it...

People running amouk in my head...headache...

your-obt-servt In reply to CobaltXplosion [2012-11-17 02:19:44 +0000 UTC]

I was the same way - I always pictured him with a monocle, not glasses,
since glasses would get in the way of his mask (or is it the other way around?).
But I also tend to prefer older Phantoms, and with age, your eyesight starts to deteriorate.
So, whether he likes it or not, Erik may not have a choice...

Oh my! Don't tempt me! I have to get through Les Miserables first! And I'm only on page 86/ 1250+! It's well worth the read anyway - especially if you're a fan of the musical.

As for Kay... well I have to restrain myself from reading it over and over. Despite many of the orthodox Leroux worshiper's abstention from anything but the original (not that I have any issue with that because well Leroux is Leroux ) I have to say I do love this book. No matter what anyone says it has been the only other Phantom book I have read that has stayed with me for so long. I love the original but I do believe that there's always room for more insight, n'y a pas?

So is my copy of Leroux.
I actually have a Kay hardcover and another Leroux paperback as backups.
I, for one, am always open for new ideas and insights...

'cause I don't like drawing men's shoes.
Mostly because I've no use for them in real life.
I made myself sit down and take time to draw them for this,
so you just made my night.

Me too, the hands are one of the most important things about the personality of a character.
I have to spend more time drawing hands. Most of the times, I donΒ΄t draw them when I'm sketching the human body, because they ruin the sketch .

*go to practice hands*
