Ever have one of those times where you're truely inspired to draw and work for hours to get every last detail on your artwork just perfect so that it looks EXACTLY like you wanted it to? And just how many times does it happen that those times end up having something go wrong? I'm willing to bet a lot. This is what happened to me. I poured my heart into creating a masterpiece of oekaki (I'm allowing myself an ego because damnit I like what I've done here!) only to have my server die. I wait for over an hour for it to come back up, and just as it was about to... the browser dies. So the oekaki I worked so hard on goes 'Pfft'.
Luckily for me, I learned my lesson the first time and discovered the joy of a little button labeled "Print Screen".
So now, thanks to my paranoia of screencapping every oekaki I do repeatedly to the point of insanity, I can at least post it here even if not on the oekaki board.
Those of you that might've read my description on my previous pic know that Neon and I have completed a Bakura/Malik fanfic that we're gonna start posting soon. This drawing was created due to the inspiration that came from it and flipping through my sister's How To Draw Manga (Couples) book. Originally it was gonna be a romantic scene, but then it became Thief Bakura, alone.
I feel sorry for the poor guy...

I can't believe that I never updated this picture with the link to the story that I mentioned in it. Well, I'm fixing that right now! The story is called Aurora (for those of you who have yet to see me plug it in other pictures), and, as said above, it's a Bakura/Malik romantic (yaoi / shonen ai / boyxboy love) story full of character development and following canon as closely as possible while going into thief Bakura's past.

The emotion in his facial expression is absolutely amazing. I don't know how you did it.
One critique: the lack of shadows in his neck makes it look very flat.

Thank you very much! I looked at a number of screen shots and tried to capture the expression as best I was able.
I know about the lack of shadows, but thank you for pointing that out. Back then I onl used one color for shading, which doesn't work out a good deal of the time. I would like to think I fixed it though when I recolored it here: [link]

I have that book as well. ^-^ Very good book...I've used it for a couple poses...and then I bought one for fighting scenes that I'm just having too much fun with. X3 But oh my goodness, I love everything about this oekaki. The facial expression, the lighting, but most of all, the tears. You did a great job on the tears. And I hear where you're coming from on wanting to get the pic to look JUST right. I did that with a fanart picture of Goku from Saiyuki. There are still bits and pieces of it that I'm not happy with, but the original is no longer in my hands (that God I scanned it in and posted it). All in all, this is a very gorgeous piece I think. I'm really glad that despite the crap your compy put you through, I'm really glad you were able to finally finish and post this piece. ^-^ My hat's off to you. X3

Yuki....this piece of artwork really touched me.
Anime is not simply just art. A lot of anime has
hidden messages the artist tries to express, that
simply cannot be expressed in words...
"A picture is worth a thousand words."
Anime gives you honourable heroes, many times
with hard situations you can relate to. This picture
helps me reflect not only on this character's emotions,
but my own as well.
I know what it is like to bottle up stress. And I have
tried to play the whole 'tough guy' thing, just like
many have. It never works, everyone is going to
break down at some point.
Being a prisoner of one's own emotions...this is
something I feel a lot, and this artwork really
touched me. I am adding this to my favorites.

This is so wonderful! I have a fanfic going right now on Fanfiction.net about Pharaoh Atemu and Thief Bakura when they were younger and how there hard lives started and this picture goes awsomely with it!
