Yes, I know the title stinks. Give me a break. I'm tired and I didn't want to wait to post this picture. I can change it later when I'm witty again.

Anyway, this animation all started from drawing concept sketches of Bakura and Malik as they are in Aurora. For those of you who haven't seen me ramble on about it in other drawing descriptions, Aurora is a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan fiction story and I have written (which is nearing completion as of the time of this writing). The theme of which is a romantic story between Bakura and Malik back in the time of Ancient Egypt. (Yes, it's yaoi / shonen ai / Critonshipping (sp?) / Thiefshipping for those who prefer the use of those terms.) It takes place before the period in time of which the Memory Arc recreated, and it follows the anime's canon (with information from the manga where the anime leaves gaps) as closely as possible.

Being as proud of the story as I am, and of all the works Neon and I have done, I've done surprisingly little fan art. So to rectify that I sketched out Bakura and Malik as they appear both in the past and in modern times. Unfortunately because these sketches are in my "Coot" style (which is my eccentric form of SD (super deformed art style) that actually follows a set proportional pattern) and are all basically the same body, just with details and clothing altered as necessary for the situation, I wasn't sure exactly what to finish and post or if I should post all of them as sketches with possible cheap coloring added on, and if so if I should put them all in one massive file stacked together for comparison.

So after racking my brain I decided to just turn as many into sprites as I possibly can before all the spriting makes me snap and go on a rampage on Tokyo. Or 4Kids offices. Either one.

Of course when I finished Bakura's sprite my perfectionism wasn't simply satisfied with just having the sprite just stand there and looking almost like one of my oekaki pictures, plus the fact that I want to do more than one set pose, I added different expressions and animated it. I always wanted to post an animated sprite here anyway.

That being said... please full view, otherwise you won't see anything animated except for the crazy icon I slapped together.

Oh, and for those who have read Aurora already and are wondering why Bakura's not more "casual" here, I decided that might be a bit too much of a spoiler for those who haven't read it. That and it might cause some people to become confused.

I'm hoping to finish Malik's sprite next before I get tempted to try and animate this picture more or get distracted by another of my spriting projects.

Until then, enjoy this animated gif of the teenaged thief king Bakura in all its pixely driving-Yuki-insane-by-taking-so-long-and-making- her-ramble-on-and-on-and-on-when-she's-tired-and-should-be-in-bed goodness.

Aaaaand I think I'll stop rambling and go to bed now.

Edit - 1 minute after posting

Before anyone asks, the reason why Bakura looks different than he does in the Memory Arc (most notably with his hair and clothes), this is Bakura at 13 years old, and the thief king Bakura in the Memory Arc is considerably older than that: about 20 approximately. Obviously there will be minor differences in the span of approximately 7 years.
