Description
Gaze ye upon what was once a keystone in a much larger work of fanart. It was to be a grand scale homage to the orginal Super Mario Bros., and was to include all the prominant characters. Mario and Luigi were the first to be drawn, of course, and the way I drew them looked fine (at least for the time). In fact, you can still see this drawing of them with a Goomba in the regular fanart section of my gallery (since this was all pre Mario Monsters). It was when I started on the next section of this failed opus that this started down a very frightening path. Said part involves this weeping, lopsided interpritation of Princess Peach. It was supposed to be a poke at the crying chicks on lots of manga and anime covers/posters with their hands folded, praying for better days and/or their blue haired boyfriend back. I sorta nailed it, perhaps a little TOO well... but this isn't even the worst part.
I drew toad to the left of her head, and he has hair. Did you ever see the Mario Bros. movie (which I have sort of an ironic fondness for)? Do you remember how toad looked, with his freaky guitar playing human-ness? It's hair like that. Also, he has a VERY offputting face. It's like the face you'd see on the sort of troublemaker kid in an anime who lost his parents and now spends his days throwing rocks at strangers or something. A face like that. And he's holding a sign featuring a "no princess peach" symbol.... a pink silhouette of princess peach with a red 'X' over it. Because the princess is in another castle.... yes, I know. That is why this part of the picture is absent from even a scrap.
Also absent is the actual size for this monstrosity, seeing as how it's about 50% bigger in it's original form. Can you imagine that? I didn't want to do that to you. You're welcome. It was so large because it was going to include alot more content. And if this picture was pulled off correctly, I was going to make a similar picture for EVERY GAME. Think of the world we would live in if I had done something like that....
So, you may ask, why am I subjecting you to this horror? Because I have a Mario Monsters project coming up that will feature the good princess in it, and I wanted to have this here so people can get an idea of how my skills (and tastes) have changed. This is of course assuming that said picture will look any GOOD, but at the very least I promise you she won't be weeping.
