Description
happy birthday and merry chrismas to me! ^_^I mean, i still use my intuos, like drawing the faces on this photo... but cintiq is soooooo niceeeeeeee
so far, my views of the cintiq:
pretty cool! only 1 single dead pixel, which i dont notice much of, but i DO notice there is this little tiny dust/smudge UNDER the glass, actually theres two of them! now that is bugging me >
EDIT: I keep on forgetting to say, all problems fixed. Wacom support is excellent, we worked things out, and now i have a new one)

Kyah. x.x I need to get an Intuos, or a Cintiq. My drawings would look better and be a hell of a lot easier. x.x Since my scanner's a pain in the ass and refuses to run most of the time. >.>
Sadly, I'm pretty much broke, and so is Mom. Dx Nyah~ I'd better start saving up.
I've got about $25 worth of one dollar bills, and perhaps $40 worth in quarters. xD Something around that.

lol ... well its actually difficult to draw with a tablet if you are uncomfortable with drawing with real mediums to begin with. It actually make things more complicated since you dont actualy see what you are doing directly on paper. Remember, they are only tools, they dont do the work for you

lol, I hate you so badly for having both of those. But it allows me to ask you a question, should I buy a graphire, intuos or go and save up for the the one where you draw directly onto it?

go for a graphire for now. I know some people never do adjust to using a tablet, so its something nice and cheap to start out with.

Holy shit, I want one of those! I only have a crappy volito2 BTW isn't it uncomfortable drawing on a vertical surface?

not really, i guess all the drawing and painting classes working on a canvas standing up pays off. BTW it also can be tilted down so it lays flat on the table, tho i never tried that cuz i have a keyboard under the table top so when i DO lay the monitor flat it sits too high up close to my face lol.

Oh, wow! You have an Intuos AND a Cintiq?! You're one lucky girl! I have an Intuos 3, 4x5, and I love to use it. I've had it for about two years almost and it's in pretty good condition. It just needs cleaning. BADLY. ._.

zelas In reply to Shinsha [2006-09-20 06:31:55 +0000 UTC]
hehe not a problem shinsha!
pros and cons:
graphire-
pro: cheapest good for beginners
con: half the level of pressure sensitivity
intuos-
pro: good level of pressure sensitivity
con: costs quite a bit, and if you have never used one before you wont feel the difference between graphire and ituos
cintiq-
pro: you draw right onto the monitor, AND have the same level of pressure sensitivity, really big screen
con: it costs and arm and a leg
I've had my first graphire for about 4 years before the cord on it broke, and I've had my intuos for about two years, still in excellent condition, and I just got the cintiq so i'll get back to you on that

Shinsha In reply to zelas [2006-09-20 20:45:18 +0000 UTC]
Well my choice will be between intuos and cintiq. I think the cintiq would be easier to use for me because I am more of a traditional artist, so drawing right on the surface would be a whole lot easier to deal with.
I need to first build my new graphics computer, then depending on income and determination I will decide what would be most reasonable to go for.
Thanks for the info. I will go read up on it and check out the sticker shock online.

Wow you r so lucky to have a CINTIQ!!!XDsorry to bother with this comment but i need ur help T-T...i need the help of someone who has experimented the graphire and intuos...do u believe that i have been over 1 year saving for one of that 2 tablets and also searching the difference between them?! ;_;..well right to the point....do u believe that there r real difference between those 2? cuz' i founf in internet that graphire only works for photos and is not good for a real art work...i tested one an intuos and it was very sensitive xD i like it but is expensive...i need 2 know the real diffenrence...why everyone says that graphire is for beginners if whith an intuos i could learn? o.O i think.
Help with that I beg u please! T-T!!! ;_;

If you have always used a graphire then touch a intuos, you probably wont feel a difference. The only time you will feel the difference between the two is once you work with an intuos or a cintiq for a long time and THEN switch back to a graphire you can tell its not as sensitive by far.
Graphire isnt just "good" for photos, it works for pretty much everything. Yes it is less sensitivity but once you have used it enough you automatically learn how to use it and still make good art. I know a lot of people that make great work with just using a graphire. You can always start out with a graphire (since they are pretty cheap now) and in a few years when you save up enough then decide if you want to get the higher end ones.
There IS a difference between the models, the main difference is your experience. I also find the higher sensitivity models are great for paintings that requires different pressures and tilting of the angle of the stylus, but that does not apply for anime art most of the time.
Hope this helps you!

I tried other tablet brands, i wasnt sure if it was 'genius' brand but yes it worked much like the graphire (it was my classmates so i am not sure about its resistance)
The whole nib replacement thing is BS. unless you write heavy handedly or really use it A LOT, you dont need to replace it. btw, intuos isnt 'metalic'. ALL of them is plastic.
I really didnt mind having 4x5 when i started out, but if you have the money, get the 6x8 one. its going to save your wrist.

Thx so much for the response!!! T-T
*I'm asking a lot because i don't know how to buy from internet so i'm going to try buying in my country but they r too expensive (well graphire in UE costs $100 in my case costs $146...O.o thx to the taxes...and an intuos that costs in UE like $300 in my case is $347 :S...is a lot to expend T-T.
It is also says that the a size of 6x8 is better that the size of 4x5...do u think that is better? :S
mmm did u ever tried a genius tablet? :S i read that they work the same way as a graphire and are less expensive but they has a problem with compatibility and they r not so resistant...in 7 months that tablet gets very damaged with scartchs for much use.
I read also that the graphire needs nib replacement...intuos need it too? o.O and i know that the Intuos stylus and the tablet itself is metalic but the graphire is plastic or metal-worker?.
Okay that is my trivia xD..i have the tablet crisis x_X c ya xD
