Description
Another one of my older AMAlice-fanartworks from a few years back (starting to catch up now). In this artwork I also started using (alongside with the other coloour-pencils) Faber Castell's Polychromos Colour Pencils.
This artwork was started on in 2016/2017 but finished in about 2018/2019, and from its start its meaning is almost the same but has changed a little to me. The base-meaning and message is the same but its meaning to me has changed some due to later stuff happening. And by 2019 when I finished it, it had a little other but deeper meaning to me, same with the song itself, "Solid/Solitary Ground" by Epica from their album "Consign to Oblivion". This song has always meant a lot to me, but by 2019, and even more so later, it hits even deeper.

What this fanartwork is trying to convey (plus that this is a part 2 of my other AMAlice-fanartwork with the same song), the difference this time is that the other one has more hope, more light at the other side of the tunnel, this one hasn't. This one also shows complete ruination, devastation and destruction (hence the Vale of Doom symbolism in this)... I also did a little mix in this artwork in design, borrowing an early concept design of the Ash-dress from American McGee's newest Alice game in development, Alice-Asylum. Half of her dress is the Classic one from AMR, and the other one is the Ash-one with the symbol of fire on the Ash-side of her pocket on her apron. And instead of the usual Omega-necklace she usually wears, she's in this artwork instead wearing a ember-lit necklace with the symbol of Chaos. The rest of this artwork is all Madness Returns and the symbolism of the Vale of Doom and how Alice possibly felt during her journey here. What was once a beautiful (although a little somber) garden of dreams and hopes with at least some 'solid ground', is now a decayed and withering garden in flames where all dreams and hopes are burnt and where no 'solid ground' can be found... The rest of what I wish to convey and vent via this fanartwork is within the song itself. I also especially had the piano-version/musicvideo-version of the song itself in mind when making this one.
