  She's an incredibly quiet and intelligent woman. She feels an immense sense of responsibility when it comes to making sure that history is remembered and may often spend hours on end reading, writing notes on and organizing historical texts. She does get a little nervous around larger groups of people but it's not really a big deal if she can stand off to the side. She does think of herself as plain and uninteresting but doesn't have any real thoughts on if she ought to change herself. She's not all that interested in being noticed by others. Too busy being a history buff and what not. She is a pretty submissive person, doesn't enjoy conflict or telling people 'no' so often times she just does as she's asked or told. It's probably a self-confidence issue.
  Since she'd been dating Sovanna, Crystal had a noticeable increase in comfortable social activity. She seemed to be a bit more open and in good spirits when around other folks. She also seems to have taken on a slightly more motherly aspect, lovingly scolding and caring for her partner [now deceased] and friends. She is definitely less anxious than she used to be.
After Sovanna's departure, Crys became a bit more withdrawn again. She retains the majority of her personality changes but, she also seems to be sadder in a general sense. She tries to remain upbeat when interacting with others but, there's definitely a sadness in her eyes.

History: [Crystal was not always a young woman...]
  Crystal Rene Patterson was a lovely young boy born to Alexandre and Gwendolynne Patterson. He grew up in a pretty nice home with his mother and father. They were all close, so when his mother passed away a few months after his sixth birthday, he'd taken it pretty hard. His father helped him cope in the best way he could, historic tales. For some reason, listening to recounts of world history had a comforting effect on the boy and it eventually evolved from a comforting mechanism into a full hobby. As years went on, he would look into history on a daily basis, absorbing information and taking detailed notes out of curiosity. He seemed to cling to this hobby even more so after his father's disappearance.

  Sometime later he'd found a job as a historian which made doing what he loved even more rewarding for him.
While he worked in the island archives, he continued sifting through his father's research on the ruins in an attempt to see where he might have disappeared. This continued on through his meeting his pet and protector Conri and many other residents of Jarr. One night during a research session, Crystal was startled into swallowing a blueberry gumball with magical properties that caused the growth of bunny ears and tail. It was a bit stressful at first, having elongated appendages that were more easily damaged as he was not used to them but, eventually he did grow accustomed to them and life continued.

At some point, he'd reached a research breakthrough that changed his life in a great way. He had been able to complete an important segment of research that allowed him to markdown a general location in the ruins where his father had gone just before his disappearance. With the assistance of his godfather Rafiki and Sovanna, the Warhead woman hired to assist them, he'd set off into the ruins to learn of his father's fate. After a week inside the ruins, they found his father who had been surviving quite well for the time he'd been gone. His issue was that he'd gotten lost and without his research papers, which he'd left in the archives, he'd been unable to remember/find the correct route to the exit. It was a rather tearful reunion for the Pattersons. After escorting his father out of the ruins, Crystal remained by his side through checkups at the hospital and brought him back home. He was rather pleased to note that both Sovanna and Rafiki were planning on staying for some time as he'd come to enjoy the Warhead's company and his father enjoyed Rafiki's companionship very much.

It had been a few weeks after his father's return when Alexander presented Crystal with the watermelon flavoured candy he'd found in the ruins. After being encouraged to try it out and see if it was still good after all this time, Crystal wasn't really so shocked to find himself doubled over with a stomach ache. He was, however, shocked by the ever increasing magnitude of the pain which he found himself in. Eventually, the cookie passed out from pain. He'd surfaced a few times only to experience more pain and pass back out but, when Crystal finally fully awoke next, he was in the hospital surrounded by his father, Rafiki, and Sovanna, all with concern etched on their faces. Turns out that the candy was perfectly fine...and magical. Crystal nearly passed out again after realizing what had happened. The candy had altered the cookie's biological structure and Crystal Patterson was now a young woman. Another thing had to be pointed out to her that was noticed during the x-rays and tests. Her bones, in her legs especially, were showing signs of Crumbles [basically a treat-version of osteoporosis.] and she would have to be more careful about falling and such or else she could quite easily break a bone and it would be a difficult healing process. It took Crystal a long while to become used to her new situation. Much longer than adjusting to the animal appendages really. Luckily for her, Sovanna, who'd admitted to having grown an affection for the cookie and was undeterred by the biological changes, had stated her will to remain by Crystal's side. Crystal's father left the island with Rafiki after a few months but, he still calls his daughter almost four times a week to check up on her.

  They had only been together for a total of eight months but, when Sovanna was called away from Jarr, it really hit Crystal hard. She'd grown accustomed to having her nearby and loved all of the time they'd spent together. While her brain understood that Sovanna was being pulled away due to familial obligations but, her heart was broken. Any dreams they'd shared of a life together again in the future were shattered when she'd gotten word of Sovanna's death in an intense skirmish on almost the opposite end of the world. When she'd pleaded for details on what had transpired, she was told that there was a bomb that had gone off in the mining colony where the warhead had been working undercover during an uprising that collapsed the entire cave system, resulting in massive casualties. Crystal left Jarr to attend the funeral, her father, Rafiki and Conri accompanying her the whole way through. When she returned a week later, the archives were back open as usual. It was all she could do to just...try and go back to the routine she'd had before.

Currently, Crystal is living alone with her 'pet' Conri in her cabin attached to the Jarr Archives.
