That's pretty impressive - I wouldn't even be able to afford that. Unfortunately, horses are one of the more expensive animals to own. Life just isn't fair.
Yes! except we never wore helmets And our mouthguards hurt more than helped. A camera on the stick would be wicked, too
...you just might get a little dizzy...
The first whip I ever owned had a massive plastic stopper at the top. You couldn't have let it slide through your fingers if you tried! But I have used some terrible ones. Side-saddle cue sticks take some getting used to, as well - they're weighted slightly and about 1m long to act as a 'second leg'.
Yay - another worm I am completely book obsessed, too. I love urban fantasy books at the minute --The Mortal Instruments series got me started nearly a year ago
Aww, you're off to a good start then. And with any luck, having a bit of a break will make him more keen to have a go again
Yeah - I'd never heard of a horse doing yoga. I wasn't sure if it's cool or insane, lol, but I actually like the idea.
lol, no worries. Anything over 16 hand is huge for me too. I'm only 5'1" ish . And yeah, Blue's adorable, if a little grouchy.

Hahaa, it's tough, but I make it work. Mostly saving, and saving, and more saving... It IS worth it, though, to be quite honest.
Hahaa, that would be HILARIOUS!
Oooh, I wish I could find something like that! Although I can see how that would feel weird.
Hahaa, I read the first two of those books, I didn't get sucked in though. I'm a huge dystopian fan, The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner being some of my favorites.
Yeah, he's pretty talented at it too. Hopefully we won't miss the only show with dressage this time!
I know, it's pretty crazy! I'd love to see that, LOL!
Hahaa, I'm 5'5", and even 15.2hh is tall for me!
I guess I got way too used to Mo's teensy-ness!

I don't doubt it's worth it -- but all my saving is to keep my car running at the minute We get money from the university for attending lectures, but that gets diminished pretty quickly
Yeah, the first time I used a side-saddle crop, I kept thinking I was going to drop it. I felt like there was far too much stick down by my side and not enough in my hand XD. But it does make you aware of what you're doing with your hands, which is good. Actually, sitting with both legs on one side is really good for making you aware of your position on the whole. I found it helped when I was back in a normal saddle
XD I read all three Mortal Instrument books in a week. Then I debated for a while, but decided to read the prequel series Infernal Devices. That got me into steampunk
I can't say I have an opinion on dystopian focused books on the whole. I've only read one - the Hunger Games. I finished it literally the day before yesterday and I love it. I just have to wait for the sequel books to be delivered I haven't heard of Divergent or The Maze Runner. I must go look them up...
A book I read not long ago was called The Demon Trappers (Demon Trapper's Daughter, in the US). I'm not chomping at the bit to read the next one, but I may get around to it. I liked the first book well enough.
Did you miss a show? That sucks. We go to a lot of the dressage shows run by the college and held on the yard, so missing them are kind of difficult. They do get cancelled now and then, though.
You ask to see the amazing yoga pony; you get to see the amazing yoga pony --> [link]
...just don't ask me how I managed to find it
I guess if you're at an Arabian barn, then the average height is around 14-15 hands. Because there's a mega variety of breeds, sizes and shapes on a student yard, you don't have much chance to get used to a small range. You just get everything thrown your way

Oh, well, I can see how that would take a lot of the money over! I'm not driving yet, and my mom told me I can't get a car until I can pay for the car, the gas, AND the insurance, so that won't be for a while.
I can see how that would help. If I ever get the chance to do sidesaddle, I'll jump at it - although I want to try a lot of things, but we'll see how that goes.
Yeah, I heard they were good, they're not really my thing though.
Oh, you're a fan too? I LOVE that series, they're all amazing! I'll check that book out though, might be worth a read!
Haha, yeah, my trainer is always off at one national show or another so we have to miss a few shows sometimes while she's gone, because we don't have a trailer.
AHHH! That's so cute!
Haha, yeah, I can see how that would be a bit of a varying factor.

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-22 22:55:43 +0000 UTC]
If I had to do it all alone, I wouldn't have a car either. My parents said they'll do the insurance and tax for the first few years but for the last year or so, I've been paying for the gas.
Yeah, I find there's a lot of things I want to have a go at; I just never find the time XD.
Nah. Different people, different tastes . I love them, but not everyone does -- like Twilight. But that's more extreme (understatement
)
But yes - I'm a fan of HG. If I didn't have an assignment due to keep me occupied, I'd be going spare waiting for Catching Fire, lol. Though having an assignment is hardly ideal. I have to say, I knew a fair amount about the plot before I started reading, but it was still addictive. I think I favour Peeta over Gale, though . Are you at all looking forward to the movie adaptation?
And I dunno how you'll feel about Demon Trapper. I like the world and the dynamics, but the characters occasionally annoy me...
Ah. Yeah...attending shows could be awkward with no transport

Haha, yeah, that's probably a good idea. Honestly, I won't be driving much anyway until I'm at least in college, because my mom and my dad are constantly driving places.
Oh, I know, I've honestly never met someone with all the same likes and dislikes as I do. I guess that's a good thing!
Oh, I absolutely LOVE it. I believe it, haha, I read the first two before Mockingjay came out and I was on my toes for 6 months! But HECK TO THE YES! I'm counting down, I'm so excited, 61 days!
Yeah, I ordered the free sample on my Kindle just to check.
Hahaa, unless I wanted to ride the horse there, LOL! And maybe stop through a McDonald's drive-thru on the way!

Me and my parents are all over the place at all times so sharing or taking lifts just isn't that practical
If the world was full of people who all thought the same, it'd be a pretty boring place
I had to wait 9 months for the 2nd Infernal Devices, and I still have a few months left of the year wait for the 5th Mortal Instruments. But in general, I tend to get to books once the whole series has made it to the shelves I'm kinda glad I only just found HG - and If I'd found out about the movie any sooner, I'd already have gone mad
How's Demon Trappers looking so far? weird?
Omigod - I would kill to see the face of a McDonald's server, handing a to-go bag out the window to someone on a horse! Funniest thing ever!

Oh, I totally agree. Yeah, me too, I've noticed. Hahaa, yeah, you found THG at a good time, you didn't have to wait long for the movie! Have you seen the trailer?
It actually looks pretty good! It's only $3 as an eBook, so I might try it out.
LOL, right? I need to do that before I die.

Ooh - I so have seen the trailer! I LOVE it. I half wish they'd showed a few clips of after the Games starts, but I know why they kept the whole trailer to the moments before -- just adds suspense, I guess.
I really want to see how they do the Mutts near the end, and it will be wicked to see Katniss blow up the food supply . I've heard that Taylor Swift recorded a song for the movie, and I've fallen in love with it, too. Then there's a recording of Rue's Lullabye sung by a young girl called Gwynne Wood - I can literally play it on repeat
I forgot to ask, too - Do you have a preference for Peeta/Gale? Or not take a side?
My dad is completely obsessed with the Kindle He loves his ebooks, now. Sounds like they have some good offers with them, but for me, nothing beats actually holding the book - no matter how impractical it can be. I have so many doorstopper books in my room that I am out of places to stash them - they're now just in piles around my bed XD.
And if you ever manage to do a drive thru on horseback - I need pictures Best plan ever

I know, I HAVE to watch it every day, at least! I am SO excited, I was hoping to see the midnight premiere but sadly it's on a school night, and my mom would never have it. I'll just have to go IMMEDIATELY after school, then.
Oh, I know. That and the whole "goodbye" scene before they leave the Distrcit, it's such a small scene but I love it.
I prefer Peeta, because Gale was such an idiot in the last book (no spoilers, I promise!) but I'm not all hardcore "TEAM PEETA!" or anything.
I LOVE my Kindle,I didn't think I would but it's neat to have, plus much lighter and the books are WAY cheaper. I do have my very favorites in print, though - Harry Potter and THG, of course!
LOL, of course!

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-23 23:10:25 +0000 UTC]
Sorry I keep taking ages to reply -- I'm reading a huge THG fanfiction (I'm pretty obsessed with fanfic in general XD)
I thought I was the only one! I'm just like that - I have to watch the trailer before I go to bed every night. Though, on the weekend, I think I played it 8 times between waking up and going to bed *fail*. I'd love to go on midnight opening night (I did for Harry Potter , with which I am also obsessed), but I'm a bit put off because I wouldn't want it to be insanely packed and for people to talk. Or, I may do what I've done with HP and do the opening night but go again a few weeks later when it's a little quieter
...I'll see how I go with that... Good luck getting to your viewing! I can imagine a lot of people will be bombing out of school to get there XD.
The goodbye scene should be really good - even for a short one. I'm interested to know if Prim or Madge really gives Katniss the pin...(trailers can be misleading )
XD - yeah, I spoiled enough of the plots for myself, lol. But it'll be interesting to see what kind of idiot ball he's carrying (omg, It has just occured to me - I need to look this up on TV tropes! ) And nah, I don't get into hardcore teams or shipping really. There are some - I'm pretty adamant about Damon/Elena from the Vamp Diaries TV show (not a fan of the books, strangely) - but most I'm fairly laid back about.
Yeah...that is the good part. Cheaper books . I bought a ton on Amazon recently and sometimes I just go for the best condition pre owned ones to get them cheaper
But Harry Potter...I have so many of those books, it isn't funny. Quiz books, 'inside world' books that flesh out the series, sticker books, a special edition of philosophers stone, 3 copies of Order of the Phoenix and 2 of Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. 2 of them were signed when I went to Levesdon Studios and they pretty much have their own bookshelf I'm crazy. And it doesn't end with the books, the collection of HP odds and ends is insane too........I may need help...

Hahaa, it's fine, no worries.
Hahaa, me and all my obsessed friends are the same like that! I did Harry Potter at midnight too, it was a blast! Some people showed up dressed as the Potter Puppet Pals.
Hahaa, can't wait!
Oh, I know. I hate how people assume things like that! The one thing I hate about THG community: they forget other people are still reading the books.
Haha, you can say that again!
Oh, jeez, I am SUCH a HP freak! If I didn't have such a restricting budget, I'd definitely have more HP merchandise.... Oh, by any chance have you watched A Very Potter Musical?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-25 00:18:55 +0000 UTC]
Do you read any fanfiction, too?
XD - I didn't see any Potter Puppet Pals, but there were people with little capes or wands. I managed to see it 3D, too, so practically everyone had HP 3D glasses
I think you find that with a lot of media that has very loyal followings; people who've watched the show, or the movie or read the books tend to believe that other fans are as up to date as they are. Which is great for them, lol, but then you get the people like us who didn't pick it up until a bit later (or much later, in my case XD) who can't stray onto a fan site for all the spoilers lying about.
On a positive note, Some of my Amazon shipments have arrived (I need to go nuts on that site far more often ) so it shouldn't be long before I can land my hands on the next books in the series
A HP freak, too . Hmm, how do you feel about Twilight? XD.
I was into HP from such an early age, that I've just hoarded an extensive collection over the years - half of which were birthday and Christmas presents . I actually still know the whereabouts of a Baby Norbert anamatronic (he makes noises and is semi mobile) that was given to me years ago.
However - I haven't seen AVPM. I've heard a little about it but have no real idea what it is and just never found the motivation to investigate. Is it any good?
Here's another one - have you heard of a Trilogy called Wolves of Mercy Falls? (It starts with Shiver and is written by Maggie Stiefvater) . I got into that a few months back and - as usual - read all three in about two weeks. Not dystopian, but it brings very new ideas to the werewolf/lycan myth

Hahaa, it was a HUGE ordeal in the theater I went to, it was great! 2 and a half hours of singing and fake-dueling before the movie started, it was great!
Yeah, that typically makes me mad. But I just stay away from those sites until I've done all I'll do for that series.
Oooh, yay! My horse anatomy coloring book is supposed to come tomorrow, I'm SO excited!
Hahaa, yep! I honestly can't stand Twilight, I read all 4 books in seventh grade and liked it for a month or two, but then it got old fast, and it just turned me off. I've never been big into paranormal, romantic books like that anyway.
Oh, me too, I remember having HP as a bedtime story when I was 5 years old. I know my brother has an exact replica of Sirius Black's wand, which I gave him for Christmas a few years back.
It's SO funny! Absolutely hysterical, you WILL be obsessed. Darren Criss from Glee made his big break with AVPM. The sequel is arguably just as funny, if not better.
I have, I just haven't gotten around to getting a free Kindle sample. I've never been a huge wolf/shapeshifter/vampire/etc. fan though, so I'm not sure if I'd read it.

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-25 20:43:01 +0000 UTC]
I'd have loved to see the fake duelling! Damn XD
With some books, I steer clear of all the spoilers, but with others, I dig up as many as I can even before I've started. I don't really know why. With Hunger games, I knew a lot before, but when I found Shiver, I avoided learning anything until I'd practically finished the third book.
I tried to order a colouring book a while back, but there was a huge issue with shipment, and I got my money back instead I'd actually love to publish a colourinng book one day
An equine colouring book...
I watched the Twilight film and then read all the books in a fortnight (I have this tendency to read trilogys in two weeks, I've noticed ) But my reaction was pretty much the same - I quite liked them for a month or so, then went hunting on the internet and found the huge war going on, read into it and found I really hated the books. I used to love supernatural/vampire books, but Twilight really put me off (I really didn't like the portrayal of the relationship). I don't even like the Vamp Diaries book series, though it was published far earlier.
My cousin got me into the books when I was a little older, because I remember reading them for myself (struggling through Philosopher's Stone, which I can now read front to back in 2 hours ). And I bet Sirius Black's wand is awesome
. It's really cool you managed to get it. When I went up to the set, my sister was given one of their wands...we can never remember, but we think it was Collin Creevey's.
Have you heard of Allivans? It's a huge website that sell very high end wands -- I used to hover on that for ages, looking through all of them
I don't actually watch Glee, so I'm not really familiar with Daren Criss. I've seen the odd episode, though - who does he play? I'll have to check this ouw when I have a moment
Ah, no worries. That kind of stuff is just not for everyone. I've gone on to get hold of more of Maggie's books, though, because its more the way she writes that I love. The shapeshifter part of the wolves trilogy is very original, but it's the way she uses words and creates characters and relationships that I really like

It was GREAT! I was laughing my head off!
Hahaa, yeah, I ahte spoilers with a passion, at least when I'm reading a book.
Ooh, that sucks. It actually just came today, it's AMAZING!! 81 pages of PURE AWESOME. But that's actually the career I'm considering, veterinary illustration.
Yeah, I was never really a huge fan after that. I had a time when I loved the Vampire Academy books, but then it just got boring.
Hahaa, I remember my dad reading the second book to us and accidentally forgetting to censor a swear word, and my sister and I FREAKED. OUT. That is too cool! I got it from the Noble Collection, they're awesome. They make replicas of most of the wands in the movies, they're AMAZINGLY realistic!
Nope, I haven't, I'll have to look! I saw one that he was in, don't watch it anymore though. I really only ever watched that one episode. He's Harry, and a freaking amazing one at that! Oh, I remember back when his hair was a mop...
Yeah, that's why I was considering making the exception. When I'm done with the book I'm reading I'll have to get the free sample, just to try it.

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-26 23:22:38 +0000 UTC]
You're considering veterinary illustration? That's really cool. What made you decide on that?
Having said that; I read all the BHS books here in the college library and cringe at the bad illustrations, so I've sometimes thought about trying to re-illustrate them
I've heard a bit about Vamp Academy recently. I have no idea what its about really. I've seen books on shelves and 30 seconds of TV show ads but that's it. Boring, you reckon? Either way, I don't think I'll go there anytime soon. Twilight really did put me off Vamps. Its a miracle I'm into the Diaries
Yeah, my mum used to be really tight about swearing when I was younger. We were allowed to say 'Hell' and 'bloody' - it was just the 'hardcore' words she didn't like. Now that I'm not so impressionable my parents are more relaxed and I do catch my dad swearing.
And I love Allivans. I'll have to look up where you got yours, though. I actually can't wait for Pottermore to be up and running --that is a Harry Potter site of epic proportions!
XD a mop Now I gotta see! I just have so much to do this week its insane! (I still have to finish a mega report due tomorrow
)
Free samples! How great is that? But that's not a bad idea. I'd love to know what you think

Zephyrra In reply to Tattered-Dreams [2012-01-27 02:24:47 +0000 UTC]
Yep, haha! I'm a huge bio nerd, and I love illustrating stuff, so I figured veterinary illustration would be perfect for me with all the research on horses I've done in the past 5 years. Hahaa, exactly my point!
I hate it when the illustrations in conformation books aren't actually conformationally correct... *shudders*
Ehhh, it's alright. The first book or two are pretty half-decent, but after that it's just boring and redundant. Although I've heard that if you like Vampire Diaries, then the Academy books are a good pick... I don't know, I'd read the sample on Barnes and Noble's website before you go anywhere with it. LOL, we couldn't swear AT ALL, even now! My mom even scolds us when we say stuff like "Oh my God..."
Hahaa, me neither! My friend got into it early, but she's been having problems with it, so... no info as of yet.
LOL, definitely! Next time your have a bunch of time to spare, definitely sit down and watch it. It's definitely funnier all in one or two sittings, since it's in parts on YouTube, but it's still amazing if you watch a couple parts a day.
Yet another thing I love about the Kindles!

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-27 18:54:23 +0000 UTC]
You'll have to send me the info when you get published I need a copy of that book
Innaccurate illustrations really can bother me. Its really irritating in children's colouring books - I just think the more accurate the lines, the more it will teach the kids. But it is definitely not right for educational books to have spastic horse diagrams
Hmm, I may read the sample. Not sure about that yet, but thanks for suggesting it
Oh, my family definitely swears more than that. 'Oh my God' is a fairly common phrase with us. I don't think we really see it as swearing. It does amuse me, though, that my mom says "Sugar!" a fair amount XD. Now and then, she'll forget and say "Sh*t" instead and she always looks horrified.
As far as I know, they let 1 million (I think) people register to Pottermore to beta the site, suggest and implement improvements and work with the creation team to fix other bugs. JK said it should be active in October last year, but obviously it was postponed. There's no active date yet that I know of, but I do check back on the 'Insider' blog now and then for updates. They're doing features of fan art done by people all over the world for each chapter and they've started at the first book, so that should be fun to follow.
If you're interested, I can give you a link. There was a good feature a while back about the creation of the house badges that you'll get when you're sorted
I just love having paper books too much to move into this technology-era XD (I can always use my dad's Ipad if I'm pushed). Computers are fine, as long as they don't take away my books! I'm dreading the day they announce that all publishing will be done online and every book is going electronic so there's no need for libraries...Of course, that could be a little extreme...

What does your family do for the church? Would you say you're religious, then? That would explain the tight leash on swearing in the household, I guess
Yeah, some of the fan art is good. I'd love to do some --When HP was my living and breathing obsession, I could not draw people for toffee, so it'd be great to do some fan art now -- I just need time! I really need to get my event journal up and finish some show entries too...
Yeah, my dad wouldn't get by without his Ipad now XD. He reads on that. I suppose it does have plus sides for taking an entire library to college with me I can barely cram 1 book in my bag with all the 'necessary' stuff like lecture notes.

Hahaa, I know, right? That would be so fun to do sometime....
Yeah, it's really handy to have at school. I can see how that would NOT be fun. I have one bag for only my math classes!
AHH, really?! That's awesome! I love Catching Fire, it took a little while to pick up but it was SO good. Mockingjay was okay, still amazing but didn't do the first two justice. I still love it, don't get me wrong!

That's really cool, actually. I remember going to church a few times and for school services, but that was about it. I've been in a bell tower and rung the bells. No idea how that happened, but it was tons of fun
And it sounds like me. I like terming myself a 'mild Christian'. My mom is a little more so, coz she was raised with the more religious views. You could definitely do some HP art. I love the way you do hair, especially
A whole bag for maths?
I'd have died! I'm so glad I don't do it anymore.
And yeah - It's very rare that I'm so keen to see what happens that I rush the reading. But I am now XD. I've read about Peeta and Katniss staying with each other to quell the nightmares and I can't wait to read it. And yeah, In most series books, there's one that doesn't quite match up to the others. I felt like Forever - the last book in the wolves of mercy fall series - was a bit of a let down, but - like you - that doesn't mean I don't still love it for what it is. So I get it, believe me

And yeah, my grandma was all hardcore Irish Catholic, so my mom grew up super religious.
Awh, thanks! I was considering it, I'd have to finish my massive to-do list/what-I-want-to-do list.

The religious families seem to start like that and just wane out over time. I went to a Church of England school (literally a church was the other side of the school gate) and we had all manner of services there. I left when I was around 8 to go to school with my cousin, though. It didn't have much chance to leave a huge impression -- which shows as I'm a little corrupted XD.
Tell me about it - I have a mega list of things do do - both art and in the real world . I'm just trolling through them all, trying to clear some time.
You sound like you have tons on your plate! I'm bogged down enough with one course and artistic impulses But it's not a bad idea to get all your credits if you can shoulder the work.
The only long series so far I haven't been let down for is HP. I have favourites, and ones that aren't so favourite, but I didn't feel that one of them didn't hold up to the others. The movies, though, some of them were a let down for me

Yeah, it seems that way. I transferred to a public school last year, and I'm loving it!
Oh, I know. It's so much work, but I'm finally making a dent in it, at least.
Oh, I really do. I ride 4 hours a week, dance 5 hours a week, I have 5 hours of math classes after school every week, and I'm in school from 7:15 to 2:30. I'm quitting dance next year though, so hopefully I'll have more time.
Same here! I absolutely love the HP movies, but honestly they didn't quite do justice to the books. They're fantastic, but I love the books so much more.

I was in a private school between the ages of 11 and 16. The college I'm at now and have been for 4 years is public. I really miss my school, though. It was a huge old Country Manor house and I used to board overnight on a Thursday when we'd order chinese takeaway and had free run of the place when the day girls had left
Good luck with that dent. Carrying a hammer might help you out...
Ouch. I don't ride so much any more. I don't do jump lessons at college, and I only go to my little stables once in a fortnight. I miss it, I just don't have the time, energy or money at the minute Once I've finished the course that'll change
And you dance? What kind do you do? Or have you tried a lot of styles? I did ballet when I was tiny, and I did gymnastics for a while after that, but I stopped both of them and moved on to other things. I can understand life just gets in the way now and then.
Exactly my thoughts! Good movies as they stand, but in comparison to the books...let's just not go there.
I first thought I'd never like the movies as much way back at the second film when they left out Nick's deathday party It just sort of hit me (coz I was naive XD) that they were going to have to skip bits and I wouldn't necessarily agree with what they decided to drop.

That sounds so fun! Mine was lame, there were less than 300 people in the school and they were all either jerks or weirdos. I'm still friends with one or two girls from that school though.
Good idea!
Yeah, I'm down to barely riding once or twice a week, so I have to keep the rides longer. In the summer I go three to four times a week. I have close to no money for horses, relatively speaking.
Yup! I've been dancing for almost 13 years. I do tap, ballet (I'm en pointe as of last year), jazz, modern, and lyrical. I wish I could keep doing it, but it's crazy expensive, full of drama, and too time consuming. I used to do gymnastics too, but I quit so I could ride.
I totally agree!

XD - jerks or weirdos!. Mine was fairly small, too, though. only around 200-250 girls (it was an all girls school) with about 32 in our year. That was split into 2 forms of around 18 -- pretty small, compared to some. I keep in contact with a few of my friends from there too and we meet fairly regularly.
Longer rides can't be all bad, though And Summer must be great - just being able to ride off and have some time to yourself
But I get the no money part. Unfortunately, the more awesome an animal, the more expensive XD.
Wow, you've done tons! No hip hop? And I could never do points - it looks so painful (if incredible) It sucks you have to give it up
But I guess it is a lot to shoulder, along with everything else.

Haha, true! I love summer, I can spend so much more time around the horses, plus summer is show season. But alas, shows means more money out of my pocket...
Nope, my studio doesn't offer it. I take every class they have. Yo get used to the shoes though, it just tales a little bit of patience, and 5 or 10 minutes of warming up on them. There's a lot of drama at my studio though, so it's almost worth it.

Wow, really? One of the girls in my year had to get an abortion. It still doesn't seem quite real. She was only just 16 and she had to get a doctors note explaining why she couldn't do PE for two weeks afterwards - yikes.
Dilemma, ain't it? I love autumn, personally. My birthday is in autumn, so that could be part of it, but I just love the colours and the feel of the weather changing
Have you always gone to the same studio? And every class they have? They must love you XD. I just don't think I'm cut to be a dancer. Now a ninja... Yup - I could do that

Oh, definitely. My birthday is Pi Day. Ironically enough, math is my worst subject.
Yep, since I was really little. I'm in the most advanced class, and they're all pretty much allowed to do everything, but you have to either suck up to the teacher or be REALLY amazing to get a solo or duet. They only give out 2 or 3 solos a year. I've never gotten one, not that I want to, but still. I'm actually not too shabby, just because I've been doing it so long and I'm naturally well-balanced, but sports... forget it.
LOL, yes! Become a ninja!

Yeah, its two very different things to be coordinated and dance and in sport. I can ice skate - I love it - but me and tennis...well, you should probably have the ambulance on standby. For the other person. I shall.

Haha, it's an accelerated program, and it earns college credit. SO basically I can be done with college math when I graduate high school. I hate it, but I'm decent at it. LOL, same here! I hit some kid in the head with a baseball bat once!

It has actually just occured to me to ask - only if you're happy saying - how old are you? I keep thinking you've finished high school but I'm guessing that's a little off XD. In which case, that's about what I did - Maths til I finished secondary school at 16. When I left to study horses

Hahaa! Yes I did!
I'm a huge memorizer, I can remember random facts from years and years ago. I also have the atomic weights for hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, chlorine, sulfur, sodium, calcium, potassium, and fluorine memorized. Those would be the results of an extremely drawn-out chem unit on the periodic table.
I'm in my mid-teens. We graduate high school at 18, so that would be a bit early for me.
LOL, in gym class we were doing softball, I reached down the tie my shoelaces while waiting to bat, and accidentally conked a kid on the head when I swung the bat up onto my shoulder...

Tattered-Dreams In reply to Zephyrra [2012-01-28 02:36:31 +0000 UTC]
I'm not bad at remembering random facts, but never numbers. Learning dates of legislation for my exam was murder, and it took me years longer than my cousins to learn my home telephone number!
And I love chemistry, but that is too much for me, too. But very cool. I'd love to be able to recite stuff like that. Instead, I can reel off pretty much everything about the strains of Arabian horse, how they originated, how they differ and who bred them. That works for me.
Over here we can leave high school/secondary school at 16 and work or go to college. We can stay on, if we want to do more exams (A levels) and leave when we're 18. We can go to college after that too. From college, we can go to uni etc...its all complicated XD. I decided A levels weren't for me and left at 16. Not that 2 years on a student yard was easy, though
And that's great! 'conked' I love that word - been a while since I've heard it. Wasn't quite the crazed weilding I'd imagined. Other than Lax (which we established is deadly ) I have thrown a cricket ball into someone's back, clobbered some guy with a water gun and accidentally threw a rabbit at my sister
It's not what it sounds like

Hahaa, that's the funny part - I'm good with numbers, but I hate them. I can remember causative agents for diseases, all that stuff, but never bloodlines or anything pertaining to racing. Sports too, I'm clueless at sports games.
Hahaa, me too, but mostly because it just "clicks" and I don't even need to delve any deeper than that. Thus why I'd make a terrible teacher, I can't explain things for my life. I still can't remember my cell phone number, though!
Yeah, here we have to stay in school until age 18, and then we can either go on to college or we can work. Although the whole college/uni thing used to confuse me - here it's all called college, there are either 2-year colleges or 4-year colleges.
Hahaa! His expression was what made it hilarious, he FREAKED OUT! He didn't even know what was going on, he whipped around and nearly smacked his friend across the face before he realized it was me and it was just an accident. I've done SO much clumsy stuff, I can't even remember it all...
LOL, you threw a rabbit at your sister?! That, my friend, is epic.

Phew - finally got to reply
That really does get on my nerves - when you hate something but you're good at it. I love bloodlines and genetics, though. I don't do racing - I have a personal thing against it - but other blood lines are interesting to me.
And the only kind of sport I do is watch the showjumping or the Bull riding XD. I don't do sport
It took me years to learn my cell number. I've had a phone since I was 10 and was going to secondary school. It was coz I had to get a bus. I've only learned my number (and it hasn't changed since then) in the last 5-6 months. No joke. Then there's my cousin who, by the time he was 14, could recit his home number, our grandparents number, his mother's mobile, his dad's mobile and...the pizza hut number. That is just overkill
Yeah, from what I've deduced we have college first, then uni. Over there, it seems to be interchangeable. I'm in the system and I'm still confused, so no worries
Join the club - I do the weirdest things because of spontaneous clumsy moments. It cracks my family up. But I definitely agree - expressions are the most funny things in most situations.
And yeah...thank you
Whenever anyone goes "What? You threw a rabbit? Your poor sister!" I always just say "Whoa, hang on. She threw a chair at me first!"

Oh, I know... that's the worst. Racing irritates me, it's hard to follow and personally I think 2 years old is too young for a horse to be ridden, but it IS fun to draw. Arabian racehorses race at 6 though, so I'm a little cooler with that. I love looking up bloodlines though, last year I found out that Mo and my friend's horse Laura are cousins through their maternal granddam. It was awesome!
LOL, me too! I can never figure out when equestrian stuff is on TV, so I just watch it on YouTube.
LOL, I had the same number since I was 12, and a year ago when I fell off my horse and landed on my phone, I had to get a new one, and I thought my number changed... and then I realized it was the same about a year later. FAIL.
Hahaa! Life is confusing... lol.
LOL! It's so funny! Once I got really angry during lunch, and my friend just loks over at me (who is ranting like a truck driver) with this priceless look on her face that made me laugh SO hard.
LOL!!! That's hilarious! Sounds like my sister and I...

I completely agree! 2 is far too young for such high demands. I wasn't too vocal, though, until I learned in college about all the conditions racehorses are kept in - a stallion not even allowed turnout in case he's injured, mare's kept under false lights and heat lamps to induce ovulation - just no time for them to be a horse and act like one. I hate it. That really bothered me, so now I have nothing to do with it.
I rarely draw it, too - but I was really bored in a lecture one day and this:[link] happened. Very rare for me, though.
I don't really get into Arabian racing, either, though I know it is better. I do enjoy the Hidalgo movie with the long distance Endurance race and Young Black Stallion (prequel to the main movie) which has an Arabian horse race as the big finale.
And how cool that your horses are related? I love that Arabians are traced back through the dam, too. Just nice to see
You might have liked a questionnaire I had to do for an assignment a few weeks ago -- trying to see why Arabian horses were disliked by some and liked by others. I'd have been interested in what you thought.
Lol, me too. I never say "I have to watch the showjumping at 2:00". I just usually am channel surfing and find it by accident, then have to watch Youtube is good too. Have you seen a video of Luciana Diniz showjumping without a bridle? That's one of my favourites
Phone drama XD. It never ends. I'm just lucky in that I've never needed to know my own number -- I keep an entry in the phonebook called 'me'
Yup; spontaneous expressions are the best. In a chemistry lesson a while back me and a friend did something wrong and there was this really loud pop (I think it was Hydrogen testing...?) Our Chemistry teacher's head literally snapped around so fast and he had this huge, wide-eyed "zomg" expression. We nearly fell off our stools!
You and your sister lob household furniture at each other? XD - Yay! I'm not the only one
But that wasn't all the time. My sister was amazing more than she was irritating.

Oh, I know. I don't agree with a lot of racing tactics, but I don't really voice it. It's not my place to voice, honestly.
Yeah, They go a lot easier with the Arabs as they're so highly strung, and they take so much longer to physically mature. My gelding is an ex-racehorse, he was very successful for only running 6 races, and he's in extremely wonderful health at an age of nearly 25. He even has a son, not sure where he lives, but he's very healthy as far as I know.
I know, it's awesome! I was at my friend's house, and her mother is my trainer, so she let us use her AHA account to look up bloodlines, age, etc. for 4-H show entry forms, and that night I found out SO much about his life before we bought him. According to their records, he was a halter champion as a yearling, raced 6 times, won top 3 in every race, gathered up winnings of over $5,000, retired into dressage, was a champ at Level II in dressage, and was retrained in western pleasure and hunters.
WOW, that's amazing, a nearly clear round with only a snaffle and a pair of reins? THAT is horsemanship. Good for her! Stacy Westfall is another one of my favorites, her reining runs are gorgeous.
Hahaa, so do I! That reminds me of the first day of school when my teacher was giving us the safety lecture, and the teacher next door exploded a hydrogen bubble, and yelled "TA-DAA!" She spazzed out, fell back against the dry-erase board, then burst out laughing. It was great, not to mention ironic that while we got the safety lecture, the other class was setting thing on fire...

I don't go around bashing racing and saying it's unfair, but if anyone asks me what I think, I am honest, and if they ask why or the like, I will be honest about that too. Basically, I give my opinion if it's asked for. In that respect, it is your place to voice your opinions, just not to go around blackballing the sport for kicks. Does that make sense?
Another reason I'm not too keen on the TB breed in general. They've been bred to mature at 18 months to 2 years old with this 'one track mind' (no pun intended) mentality. I think horses need to be horses and grow up and explore for at least three years before we start to ask things of them. The whole foal stage seems to have been bred out of TBs.
That database is fantastic! I bet you did learn tons about Mo; they'd have had all sorts of records from the time he was an embryo What a list, too! That's a really good few careers, there. No wonder he makes a good little horse; he's got a host of experience behind him.
It is amazing! I can watch her jumping rounds for hours. Here --> [link] and here --> [link]
The horse can be a little finicky with his head, but she's just such a firm, sympathetic rider. She keeps a consistent contact and really seems to get him, which is wonderful to watch.
I'll have to look up Stacy Westfall, sounds like that'll be good to watch
That always happens! I'm always in the class getting the lecture while the other class has a ball. But me and my friend were both very good at setting things on fire Pyromaniac till the end
Our old biology teacher, though, had the worst sense of humour, so that was always hilarious for lessons. His jokes were things like picking up those huge wooden metre rulers for experiments and holding one at either end, flexing it as far as possible. At the same time he'd be saying "I always like to bend the rules a little". *shot*

Yeah, exactly. That's how I treat it too. I watch the Triple Crown and stuff, but I don't follow the sport and I don't exactly support the uber-containment of the horses. And I completely agree with the growing up thing, that would be like telling a 5-year-old he needed to go to college and get a job in under a year.
I know, I love it! Yeah, it pretty much had everything I ever wanted to know. He's an awesome all-rounder as far as English goes, so I can see why.
Oh, I know, she's awesome! I wish more people would ride their horses like the horse wants to be ridden...
Oh, she's incredible. Her bareback and bridleless runs are what made her famous, and I love her training tips. Right? I suck at lighting Bunsen burners, but once I have it lit I usually almost catch SOMETHING on fire...

Yikes - college at 5 But yes, exactly that. It's just a really high demand that can ultimately cause real emotional trauma. My friend's ex racehorse mare she loved to pieces and was incredibly affectionate from the ground but the saddle was a different story. I can't remember if I mentioned her before, sorry
. There was just something broken in her mind - she'd go from following you across the field to launching herself in the air like a rodeo star.
Maybe I need to get an account on this site...though I guess its a little more exclusive than that...
Me too! Its such a great thing to watch someone who takes the time to learn their horse and ride in a way that helps them. Not enough people do it. With the professional showjumping, obviously they're riding horses owned by others, but with some of them you can see how they alter their style ever so slightly for different horses.
Bareback?...
haha - I love bunsen burners. But yeah, I'm good at catching stuff on fire, too. Makes life more interesting That's too awesome. Best word to use, too! With all that excitement, why would you fall asleep? XD I still remember a chemistry lesson years ago when we put softmints into a 2 litre bottle of coke and made the entire thing blow up outside in the mini-bus car park. Everyone got sprayed and the bottle leapt way into the air. We came back to the classroom giggling like mad and covered in coke

I think it's for AHA members only, and there's a fee to join... not sure, though. I know I'm in AHA youth, and I don't have an account.
Oh, I know. It's awesome to watch, especially when you can tell the horse and rider have a bond. I love watching my favorite riders ride different horses.

It makes sense that it's a members only thing Don't need all that info public knowledge, I guess. Maybe one day...
It's nice watching riders you admire on different horses, but I find I tend to follow the horses more than the riders A wonderful horse called Casino (I think he's John Whitaker's) is amazing to watch jump at Olympia, and a mare called Djkarta is ridden by Guy Williams -- I love watching the two of them in speed rounds. It's phoenomenal!
She lit a sandwich on fire? That takes talent! I love it
Sadly, different teachers, different styles. We only blew up a coke bottle once, though. After we got to year 9 (we start secondary school in year 7) all our science teachers switched. Me and my pyromaniac friend used to sit at the front of the class and joke with our next chemistry teacher. I've never heard of either of them. More research for me One of my other favourite pairs to watch was Laura Kraut riding Cedric - a fleabitten grey little horse. He could really launch himself up and over - such amazing jumping style - and their times were good, too
You set things on fire, too? Join my club XD. My cousin melted a hole in his bedroom carpet with a lamp that fell sideways onto it in a patch of sunlight
There's a huge rubbery patch now, instead of carpet fibres
Me and my art teacher didn't get along All I wanted to draw every year was horses and she wanted me to try other things. I once spent a whole lesson drawing a fork
