Description
Intro: Since remnant has different geology and continents certain creatures, like elephants have a different path through this world one of those examples is the great beast of the Emerald forest the moss elephant also known as the Vale elephant.Habitat Range: Despite their other known name they are found at the eastern side of Sanus living in thick forests, swamps and other places with decent cover. They avoid areas where there is a lot of open space or with red trees. They migrate west when it winter approaches. This is the only time they are seen on the plains.
Ecological Niche: Unlike earths elephants mature adults are preyed upon by Wyverns, Drakes, therapods and by it's most famous predator the Roc. This is the main reason they stay under cover. Most other predators are not large enough to take down a full grown adult. They feed upon grasses shrubs and trees. They are very fond of mangos.
Biological Adaptations: Unlike the smaller mosswine the plants on its back are for more than camouflage they are symbiotic and provide some nutrients for the beasts. Their tusks are hook shaped to help them uproot plants. Their ears turn a dark sickly green when the males are in musk, Moss Elephants should be avoided at this time.
Behaviour: Due to the presence of the Roc and their sheltered environment these creature have mixed gendered herds led by a matriach. The bull act as guards protecting the herd.
Legends and fairy tales: They say these creature once lived in the open plains but then the mighty Rocs came and nearly drove them to extinction until a group hid in the thick forest and stopped pushing over the trees. The great birds could not find them beneath the canopy and left them alone. As a reward for not destroying the forests the spirits gave them plants upon their back which provide a source of food in lean months and now they serve as the great protectors of the deep woods. Protecting them from man and wyvern alike.
Threat Level: ★★★★
Ruby: so these creatures are like guardians of the forest?
me: I guess you can say that, though there’s something much more ancient that deserves that titles.
Ruby: Still, I am curious and want these rocks are like.
me: Not that kind of rock little rose.
Sidenote; I have done a creature that is surprisingly not a fan made monster hunter design those something I took influence from that series but anyway, what do you think this of this creature and also happy world elephant day.
