‘Asuka Archetype — Super Ego’

Well, lots of Asuka love now haha. And as for the usual explaining here it goes, this is essentially a rendition of the super ego archetype through Asuka’s character in the Eva series. The general formula that one often sees among Eva fans is Rei - Id, Shinji- Ego, and Asuka - Super-Ego. (The Ego and the Id) I trust most understand these and know that they comes from Freud. With that said, it’s not often noted that a similar (alternative) correspondence can follow from Plato’s tripartite soul scheme: Rei - the Appetite (or Stomach), Shinji - Reason (or the Mind), Asuka — Courage (or the Spirit) (Plato’s Republic) This is something that could be developed further (I have some), but to focus on Asuka specifically, it reveals that she, as both the archetype of the Super Ego (the part of the Freudian psyche that sets standards) and as the archetype of the Spirit (the part of the Platonic psyche that empowers one) finds her strengths and weaknesses
through these. They are both modulated by Pride or the Heart. She’s at her strongest when able to fulfill this pride and at her weakest she’s not.

So that for her (or this aptitudes generally) it requires a mellow shock system essentially. Someone to reaffirm her strengths when at her weakest, and to be alongside her at her strongest; a confidant whom to also assist in her own way. I could go on longer but I believe this does justice to the main idea — for the second child. Hope you all enjoyed the read.
