This is when zero is still possesed by the maverick virus.
If you played megaman x4, you will see how sigma got thrashed by zero, under the mavierkc virus.
ZERO managed to revert to his normal self when the virus has a restriction program to stop zero to cause brutal damage.
The "maverick virus" than transfered to sigma.
Thats how zero became the maverick hunter and sigma the ultimate maverick.
