It's been a long time since I did this meme, and it being the season of love I wanted to show some love to my favorite characters, or at least some of them. I didnt want to do too many repeats from previous years but I just didn't have that many new favorites. There are still a lot of anime I haven't watched so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of potential favorites, but as it stands this is my list for now.

By complete happenstance, everyone on this list was an antagonist turned good, or at least could be seen as an antagonist in some sense. I guess I just really dig those kinds of characters. Can you guess who they are? I went heavy on my own style for this one, hopefully to make it trickier XD

And now for the answers:

First off we have the character that SHOULD have won best boy, Yurio from Yuri on Ice. The anime itself is far from my favorite, but I absolutely love this character. He's the typical angry punk kid, but he's also beautiful because he's an ice skater XD I feel like that just makes him much more interesting, and his silly accent in the dub is so charming I really cant watch it any other way! I've literally watched the anime three or four times now, just skipping to all of Yurio's scenes. I'm so proud of him in the end, and I hope we get more of this character in the future if the show continues!

Accelerator returns from my last list, because I finally watched season 2 of a Certain Magical Index. I also powered through a Certain Scientific Railgun, even tho I can't stand the characters, and while we don't get much of Accelerator in these shows, what little we do get of him is awesome. He's gone from a psychotic serial clone-killer to a tired kid who has to get around with a crutch. You just need to look at his face and listen to the way he talks to understand what he's been through, and he's just sick of it all.

I don't know why it took so long for Zuko to make it onto my favorite characters list, because he's got one of the best written character arcs I've ever seen in anything! Starting the series as a Team Rocket style villain, hard to take seriously but enough of a threat that he can still cause trouble, I never would have expected him to become Aang's Firebending master by the end of it. I don't have to explain why Zuko is great, because if you've watched Avatar the Last Airbender then you already know.

Fairy Tail is one of those guilty pleasure shows that I enjoy but wouldn't ever call good. The series starts really strong as a light hearted shonen series for kids and the young at heart to sit back and enjoy, but the animation and voice acting took a major nose dive later in the series and now it's just a mess. I still watch it, because I'm 200+ episodes in and invested, but it's not very enjoyable anymore, and I skip a lot of each episode in order to make it through the flashbacks and boring stuff. In any case, the reason Jellal is here is just because. Just because! Because sometimes you commit to something and you just have to stand firm! I decided Jellal would be my favorite character even before I watched Fairy Tail. I saw my sister watching the show, and spied Jellal on the screen (who looked like another character from Rave Master which I love) and thought his name was Jello (the subtitles were really small and I was just passing by). Jello! You know? Like Jello the Audino? I named him after Jellal XD. Anyways, I appreciate the concept behind the character, tho the execution may have been a bit muddled. Still, I decided long ago that Jellal was my favorite character, and now that I've actually watched the show I can finally put him on this list.

Akito Hayama from Kodocha. If you haven't seen Kodocha...well, I really like it but that might just be me. I'm not big into romance or shojou type stuff, but man if this show isnt charming. It's just so wacky and fun and innocent and childlike and I love that it addresses more adult themes but still keeps it very kid friendly and relationships actually develop and change over the course of the show! Some may find it annoying and stupid, but I thoroughly enjoy watching it. I have only gotten to episode 30 so I cant vouch for the rest of the show but it's been great so far, and the main reason is because of this angry kid. The main character Sana is super hyper, and her personality can be grating sometimes ( i get a headache watching the show for too long because she just talks so darn fast ) so it's nice to have Akito there to balance her out and give the show some levity, and his story with his family is so great. Kodocha gets a thumbs up from me, but maybe only in small doses.

I recently watched Press Buttons and Talk do a lets play of the first Ace Attorney game, so my love for Edgeworth has rekindled meaning he gets to return to the list. There's just something so satisfying about his character arch, starting out as the no nonsense prosecutor, then becoming the one on trial, to finally working WITH Phoenix to find the truth in court. UGH! It's SO GOOD IT HURTS! I think I'm stuck on the third game because I feel like I've been playing forever and Edgeworth still hasn't shown up and where's my Edgey! Well, you know what they say, "distance makes the heart grow fonder." Sigh...

It's my boi Kurama! Another repeat from last year, but Kurama's like a childhood favorite of mine, and you know, sometimes something's your favorite because it just is, and that doesn't have to change.

Have you read Folded by Emilianite ? Well you should, it's really good. The 2016 Nuzlocke Extravaganza has introduced me to many new nuzlockes I hadn't read before, but my favorite of the bunch had to be Folded, and it's all because of this character. You know how I said I watched Yuri on Ice but skipped to all of Yurio's parts? Well I kinda did the same thing for Silver. Like, this is my desktop right now, guys. Guys. I have a problem...

Viral was a great character from a great show, and like Accelerator had a big design change due to a time jump. Yes he's a repeat, but I hadn't drawn this version of him. Also he's like, immortal now? So like, yeah, that's cool.

This is Heart. There's this anime movie called You are Umasou, and it's about dinosaurs, and is actually really beautifully animated, and is actually really touching, and you should really watch it if you haven't. I would buy this movie if I could find it. There's no dub sadly, but the sub is absolutely amazing and I love the way they say his name (His name is Heart but in japanese they call him Harto haha >w<) I've never played the second gen pokemon games, but if I ever do I'm going to get Heart Gold and I'm naming my character Heart after this cool dino, and that's all I have to say about that!
