Description
This was made as part of an exchange between SARGY001 and myself; SARGY001 offered his talents to improve my working cover for Voice of the Virtual Phantom, so I offered to re-envision his planets for the One Planet at a Time project. I had thought that he was focusing on one world, possibly with a gas giant companion, given his artwork for Alpha Sierra as of this writing (here [link] and here [link] ) and suggested by space-commander when mentioning alien ruins in this system ( [link] ). Yet when I asked about it, he made mention of a forest planet; I am unaware of if he meant this to be be a single or multiple climate planet, but figured I could at least increase floral concentration by dividing the land into several separate masses, allowing maximal exposure to the ocean and hence plentiful rainfall. In truth, I would have benefited more from a planetary archipelago or thick atmosphere that might distribute humidity and temperature to maintain a global climate, but I decided a slightly more diverse world would present more opportunities for his story.Hence was created this Sierra system planet; this piece took about 6 hours overall, and was made with the use of the same tutorials as my earlier "Zainter in Orbit" (here [link] ). A texture will also be made available once SARGY001 approves, in case he wishes to depict the planet from different angles in future pieces.

NICE The clouds look very realistic and I'm glad that you didn't neglect the polar ice caps. I also like how you varied the land formations and the small islands that you have in the middle. The multiple land masses idea for increasing floral area is also great because a lot of people would not have thought of that. Plus, it gives you an excuse to have more blue skies

As you might imagine I'm not a fan of the single biome planet; unless a suffocatingly thick atmosphere is present, there should be major variations in temperature and insolation across various latitudes, and when coupled with a possible thalassogen (water analogue, a fluid present in multiple states) and uneven surface altitudes, we should expect varying atmospheric dynamics and levels of precipitation across the planet - that is, multiple climates. I'd actually planned for additional climates - little pockets of desert at Saharan latitudes on the minor continents (there are meteorological reasons for this), brownish plains bridging wasteland and forest, rocky barrens that could act as grayer tundras - as well as a greater number of islands, but the resulting textures didn't combine well and the map looked too cluttered, so I chose a somewhat simpler (perhaps less realistic) mesh. Given that I'd used this technique before, I'm surprised at how well it came out.
If I can't get a ship to Zainter, I believe I should ask Sarge for one to this place... as soon as he gives it a name.

beautiful, the texture of the clouds makes it very real.
