Description This is another image for my ongoing worldbuilding project - Zainter. In this case, it's the altitude map, with coloration based on a real altitude map I sampled for Earth. Certainly the last was more detailed than this one, but it's primary purpose is to help determine the planet's climate, given how elevation affects wind movement and precipitation. Now I'll just have to get on that.

It all starts with a rectangle, length equal to twice its height. This is the space within which you can create your map (as a note of caution, if a line goes through one of the heights, it has to come out from the equivalent point on the opposite height). Think of where you wish to place your mountain ranges with a vague sense for their heights and draw concentric circles (or in this case, shaped layers) around them. All that follows is scanning the paper and filling in the areas with Photoshop or GIMP. Even a program as simple as Paint can do the trick.

Cool project What would you say the planet population is for sentient beings?

My friend tavotrio did a climate map for the planet based on this ( [link] ) from which I created this image ( [link] ).

Technically, a sentient organism is any with a form of awareness of its surroundings, in which case almost all complex life can be counted... but I'm guessing you're looking at sapience, the ability to reason and make complex judgment. Human population hovers at roughly 200 million at the time of the setting (considering that the planet was only colonized some 200 years prior, that's quite a few people) and can potentially hold much more than Earth due to possessing almost a third more landmass. Native sapients are not present seeing as the novel describes an "all-human" universe, but there are three planned pre-sapients (organisms on the verge of sapience or sapient but pre-tribal; their intelligence similar to that of elephants, dolphins, Caledonian crows and chimpanzees)and I'm considering adding another flexite pre-sapient.

That being said, don't get your hopes down; I intend to include Zainter in more than one story universe, and not all will be "all-human".

Cool program

Thanks for the sentient/sapien clarification. Star Wars books always referred to them as sentient, so i guess that's what threw me off.

Speaking of multiple story universes, I was wondering if you'd be interested in including Zainter in the OPAAT universe at some point (I sent you a group invite just now).

I do not see how Zainter could fit into the current scheme, given that it orbits 30 lightyears from Earth (around Beta Comae Berenices) and has such a high population, but is there some resource where I could better study the story universe of the OPAAT project - its history and the like? I may have other imagined worlds better suited to the group.

I'd love to include one of your other worlds

If you go here ([link] ), you'll see the group bylaws, as well as a link to a network of OPaaT-based star maps that pretty much show it all. When you join I'll probably place your world in a sector adjacent to the Kanangar Sector.
