This is great, from thumbnail view this reminded me of Duchamp, and hovering over it made me think, it must be something to do with them two, and i was right. Anyway, i love how you can work with soft colours and at the same time brighter and stronger colours. Keep up the great work.

I found interesting the magritte-duchamp game pictured in a 'realistic' style.. is like if the urinaire had returned to its place and still can be beautiful... by the way, it reminds me spanish painter Antonio Lopez's work [link]

Duchamp/ Magritte were making a point in their own way about how anything could be labled art if it was just said so. I'm not sure if they meant that in a positive way or not (banking on the "or not"), but I found it hilarious, especially for that time.
So, are you making a similar statement, or just thought it'd be fun to draw a urinal. Cause either way, it's cute.

Oh yeah he was. Back then irony was far less common and cheeky. Now it's just an excuse for me to draw bathroom fixtures

Haha. Any excuse to idolize the porcelain god? Well, it was only a matter of time before someone took DuChamp's fascination with "modern American goods" to a new level.

Well, it was only a matter of time before someone took DuChamp's fascination with "modern American goods" to a new level.
Although I am far from the person to have done that with this, I do have some ideas of similar approach (although not necessarily involving bathroom furniture). Sometimes the aesthetically fascinating is embedded in the utterly mundane.

I've heard the names, but that's all. I take it this is along the lines of "this-is-not-a-pipe" ? I believe I'll have to take a little trip to the library - art hist books are awesome, and I don't have enough of them.
Anyhow - this is good, as always. I love your style. Good choice of colours, it looks very dank. :]

Duchamp was a guy who liked to poke fun at the art establishment, and one thing he did was submit a urinal signed R. Mutt (itself an in joke referring to the German word for "poverty" among other bizarre acts).

Well the short answer is Magritte did a whole series of images of objects with a countering line below them (i.e. a picture of a pipe and text saying "this is not a pipe" with the impkication being that it is not a pipe, but an image of a pipe, a representation), and Duchamp had a penchant for testing the boundaries of art, and often made fun of the snooty art establishment by taking everyday objects and using them. From the wikipedia entry: Marcel Duchamp took aim at conventional notions of "high art," "culture" and commodities by presenting mass-produced objects such as a bottle rack or a snow shovel as sculpture. He coupled his visual assaults on "art" with verbal puns: he signed his Fountain, "R. Mutt," or "armut," German for poverty, and named a Mona Lisa defaced by a drawn-on goatee beard and moustache L.H.O.O.Q., a coarse French pun (When pronounced in French, "elle a chaud au cul", it means "She's got a hot ass").
He was a fascinating guy.

Haha. Witty title! And nice work too. Truly a fountain of inspiration. Fountain. Get it?
I think what I like about your linework in general is that it feels energetic and anarchic, and yet each dash and line comes together to form an incredibly cohesive picture, like you are constructing a precise image out of imprecise strokes. That must entail an impressive mental visualisation of the final piece, which is an object of great envy for an amateur such as myself.
So, yeah. Sweet.

Duchamp changed the world of art more than anyone else in this century in my opinion, an amazing artist.
Although looking at the title I shouldnt be talking about him, so I really like the stains on the wall, gives it some real character.
