So many sketches give rise to so many questions--and I want so many answers! I love the way your sketches create intrigue and wonder.
And--I assume that's Panya in the fluffy coat? I haven't seen enough of her. But I like the simplicity of the artwork right there.

Yes, that's a young Panya in the fluffy coat. I'm trying out a new style based on color rather than line, so far I like it. I'll probably experiment some more.

I was wondering about the bit with Snowflake and Panya--what gave rise to that little bit?
It's a really cool style; I like the contemporary feel of it. It's fresh and clean.

Ah, that part is from the continuation of the "Checkmate" arc I'd started a while back. The transport is shot down and the crash landing isn't very pleasant. Snow has just enough time to shield Panya from the blast before the ship hits the ice. The impact unfortunately renders him unconscious for a brief spell, so then it's Panya's turn to pull him to the surface.

That's actually Shashi, a padawan I'd drawn maybe a few times before. Been working on her story in my notes, developing her personality, inevitably sketching her a few times while brainstorming.

Thanks! Her hair was quite long for a while, all the way to the waist when she was on Pantora, keeping it braided down the sides. She chopped it before joining the military for practicality, keeping it just long enough to pull back in a bun.
Indeed. He's so horrible and intimidating and then the static makes his hair poof up like that... Panya can't help but find a little humor there.

Thank you! They're pretty sloppy but the gesture is much better. Rendering makes things too tight sometimes. Experimenting with line vs color in the bottom color pic of young Panya. It's new and I might experiment more with it. Maybe include it in some flashbacks or something.

Still don't have a name for her yet. At the moment she's merely a patron of some Coruscanti establishment who's taken a fancy to him from his appearance, as she too is rocking the skeletal, edgy look, and probably possessing an unknown quantity of tattoos beneath her coverings.
Overkill never gets that kind of attention, so he probably thinks she's intoxicated.

Her hair is usually up in a bun, so it's wavy when it's let down. She probably hasn't had it in a bun in a while.

Ah. Second pic is from conceptual panels for the flashback of the incident where she looses her legs takes place.
The scene with Snowflake is going to be for the continuation of the "Checkmate" arc. Finally worked out some of the plot-holes, so that arc's back online. Not to give away too much, but their mission doesn't go as planned and they end up stranded without backup in hostile territory.
Yes, that is Panya. Can't see her face so well from that angle, might switch it up in the final layout.

That's a bit of a spoiler, also it's still in sketch form and subject to some editing.
Presently, no. I only post these stories and comics here, as I don't find myself writing nearly enough to devote to an entire Fanfiction account or other site (let me rephrase that - not nearly enough written to be considered "finished" as my timeline is all over the place and I'd be rearranging the chapters and chronology like crazy. I write these scenes as they come to me, I still haven't decided how or if it will end)

So the girl commenting on Overkill's ink reminds me of a certain character from Legend of Korra, uhhh...Desna? Desma? Anyhoo I can deceiver, falling through ice. Nice. Also not nice for Panya and...Snow? Looks it to me. Overkill in foofy Water tribe reminiscent coat is adorable! Welcome to the tundra baby!
And if I know my tattoos.. is that Panya looking like Mulan?...and so very pretty! And last but not least.

Ah, yes, a little bit. It's the bangs I think. Also, maybe the whole doom and gloom thing. I suppose she think's she's found a kindred spirit.
Yeah, Panya and Snowflake are in a spot of bother regarding the elements. If they don't drown they've got all kinds of fun to look forward to. Like hypothermia. Frostbite. Enemy troops. Carnivorous fauna. Good times.
Panya grew up in this climate though, so maybe they'll have a fighting chance.
Yeah, static is fun. poof. yup. Builds character I suppose.

All I know is that I sketch stuff on endless sheets of copy paper...miles of it and then: What the hell do I do with them?

I'm not sure if he's cuter in his slicked back hair that stands up in back, or the messy Zoko type hair or *gasp* Slick hair. Ahem. Either way, you capture him well in different looks!

Ink/color them? I scan the ones I like and do that. Some of the runners up even make it into sketch dumps sometimes. I draw a lot more than I post here, it's just a matter of navigating through a sea of half-baked ideas and sketches that might or might not work with the story.
Her objectification is clearly not appreciated, nor does it look like he will be reciprocating her advances. Maybe she thought he would be the least likely to be taken already, given his outward appearance and voluntary seclusion while in public. Maybe she's got a death wish.
Wampas, yetis, and other mythical snow-beasts are bundles of fun.
It's presently blizzard-ing where I live. Schools, government buildings closed, roads impassible, atmosphere a hazy greyish white after 100 feet in any direction, blinding snow that hits your face like a wasp nest - so I'm definitely getting some inspiration on my end...
Thanks! I think the different looks reflect his state of mind in some aspects. When it's normal and slightly spiky in the back he's more often than not in an outwardly calm yet hostile/devious mood. His composure is collected and intentional, despite whatever chaos is swirling around upstairs. Whereas when it's disheveled or down in his face his grotesquely indifferent shroud has slipped, and despite already being slightly unhinged, he's less able to filter his emotions before they become visible.

That's what I tell myself. So much of the things I draw hold meaning for me, then I think, when I post theses...what am I supposed to say? Let them wonder, I suppose. I have several notebooks that are full of concepts...and one Character that I draw...a lot. He's kind of my go to character.
Yeah. I wouldn't be touching him with a ten foot long pole. Leave that to Panya. Perhaps the chick does have a death wish. At any rate, this makes for some interesting, if not somewhat amusing story line. Especial when it runs through my head all like "What is going to happen?? Don't get to close to him!"
Ah...you're not the only one. Here we got dumped and pretty much went a flull day without power yesterday. Ugh. So much snow. And when I moved down south I though I left all that northern snow behind. Oh well. But like you said, it does make for some great inspiration. Especially climbing into your boots and waking around while thinking about what you can do with your story...yeah. I do that.
Wow. Who knew? He shows his moods through his hair style. But I can see why. You pay attention little things like "Hey I'm feeling good today!" decides to run a comb through hair. But on days where you hate everything you don't pay attention and let your hair...run wild. At least for me. When you don't give a hoot about your appearance. So yeah...I guess I understand about that part. I'm no doctor so I definetly and never will understand him.
I pretty much like all the stuff you put up. Amusing, and the Feels. Ah well...nice stuff. XD

YES! GO FOR IT! GO! It's great to get feedback, not to mention evaluate your process later on and see how you can improve or what stuff you like. Most of all it's liberating to free-sketch and see what folks interpret from your work, noticing things you might not have intended but really add to the depth of the sketches.
Give it a try! If it's not for you, you can always take the pictures down whenever you want.
