As his name suggests he goes all out when it comes to facing opponents, on and off the battlefield. By doling out the cruelty he strives to be equally deserving of such a grisly death when the time comes.
Also skeletons are cool. Beautiful and/or terrifying I think the tattoo and armor designs suit him well.

Ha ha! Yeah, I kept arguing with myself as to whether or not to have him doing that. The first time I heard the male cover of the song this scene automatically started playing in my head, with him callously slaughtering his way through his opponents while singing like a Disney princess. Thanks! The trick is to have enough neutral-ish colors for the red to really stand out from, rather than just giving it a red filter and calling it "scary."
