My reimagined version of Chromastone.I never really liked Chromastone and here's my reasons why. His name never made much sense since it's a play on the word chromesome which is a structure of DNA and protein found in cells. How does that even relate to that alien ?!? An his powers were awful as well, he had enegy absorption and blasts but the creators had to screw it up and make it into rainbow blasts. Rainbow Blasts?!? Then he could fly for no reason and it made no sense and just like flight he had super strength whenever the story asked for it. His species also makes no sense. There's only one Chromastone in all of existance that is somehow a veritable noah's ark for rebuilding Petropia and it's inhabitants. Also how did Azmuth manage to get DNA from the singular crystalsapien in the entire universe ? This alien is just a Diamondhead ripoff (chromestone ruined him as well) that had random powers with jumbled ideas for a backstory.
This one is way different. Instead of being made of crystal and stone, he's made of chromium and a conductive ore. He has his energy absorption and blasts but he also has optic blasts, kinetic absorption, and kinetic redirection. He also is a living magnet for all energy around him.
I tried to draw this as chrome like as I could but I think there's room for improvement. I also wanted the eyes a different color, probably purple, and I wanted the omnitrix symbol on his right chest, opposite Diamondhead's. Overall I'm happy with the look of this.

I think Chromastone was called that because living things have Chromosomes and he's made of a stone-like thing.Β I dunno, maybe...

To be honest, Chromastone is named after chroma, which is if I recall a different naming for coloring, and seeing since he fires rainbow death beams, make sense.

Yeah when you say it like that it does make sense. The problem is that when it came to Ben naming his aliens, they were simple enough to understand what each alien could do, but when it came to Chromastone, it made a lot of people think if what it sounded like, chromosome. Lodestar has the same problem, his name doesn't really give the sense that he controls magnetism.

Just out of curiosity, what were your thoughts on the Omniverse redesign of Chromostone in "A New Dawn?"

I do like the design. It's less humanoid than the previous one but the only thing I don't like is that there's too many spikes on him, I mean he's got 15 all over his body.

I'll admit that it was a bit disorienting to see him redesigned out of nowhere(especially when we saw him early-on in his UAF design), but the design grew on me. Perhaps the spikes could work for a different Chromeductor design(since the crystals are the only parts of him that absorb energy)?

Yeah that was weird. It reminded me of howΒ no one was questioning how Rath finally got clothes. I do like it better than the old designs. I just think that he needs the spikesΒ to be in the right places like six on his back, one on each of his knees and elbows.

I don't really mind the spikes, but I did mind that they suddenly showed Chromastone redesigned with no explanation(hell, at least they explained(however improperly) that Rath's "nekidness" was because of a glitch in the omnitrix, while Chromastone's had no such excuse).

Yeah, the least they could of done in the show is have Ben or Rook question Chromastone's new look and Skurd says he's made some "adjustments" to Chromastone. It would of been a small set of lines not even taking up more than ten seconds.

But that would've taken ten seconds away from showing Ben and Rook buffooning their way through the episode, and we certainly couldn't have that, could we?

Honestly, they had some really good ideas, but dropped the ball on all of them; and don't even get me started on the numerous pointless retcons(seriously, people complain about the UAF era's retcons, but that's nothing compared to Omniverse's)...

Oh, I'm well aware of that, I was just putting that out for the record.
Retconning Kevin's entire past(both in UAF and OS), retconning Azmuth from a hermit scientists to the leader of his whole species, furthering the "Plumbers as space cops" nonsense, the numerous flashback scenes and episodes, young Ben's brattiness being flanderized to hell and back, just to name a few... plus all the smaller stuff.

I think it was handled a bit better in OV with the false memories.Β Yeah that transition was weird. The plumbers as space cops doesn't even make sense in the show, how can they disband if they also work outside of Earth? I'll agree with you there, Ben did turn into a bit of a brat when shown in the flashbacks and it didn't help that we had another Ben (23) that acted the same way.

I have to admit the Chromastone we know does seem redundant and this version of him (possibly) seems better, moniker and biology
But in fairness, it is a cartoon based world and everyone knows cartoons are about doing anything and everything possible and probable.

Yeah and that's the problem. A cartoon can make up it's own rules, so Chromestone should of come out not such being a limited alien that he was.

Chromastone was awesome, 1st of all and 2nd hes not a rip off of Diamondhead, he exists so that when the Petrosapiens die he can restore them.

I meant design wise he's a ripoff. So much so that when diamondhead returned he had almost the exact design of chromastone.
How does the whole resurrecting the petrosapiens actually work ? He's the only one of his kind (so how does that work for an entire species? )and somehow he retains this ability, Β gets his dna collected for the omnitrix, is later able to appear outside of the omnitrix as himself, and rebuilds not only an entire race but their planet as well. Even for me that's just impossible to believe.

but with the dna, the same thing could be said about ghostfreak. and about diamondheads design, that was kinda the point. diamondhead returned because vilgax "broke" chromastone and diamondhead formed from chromastones leftovers.Β

Well with Hoarders it was stated that his consiousness existed in the DNA sample for the omnitrix and the first time he took over it could make sense that Ghostfreak trying to delay the transformation made the omnitrix malfunctioned and created enough of his body to exist outside of the omnitrix.Β
The problem with Chromastone turning into Diamondhead is how does it happen. Besides being crystal aliens they are unrelated plus neither of them have shown the ability to put themselves back together. At best diamondhead showed that he can grow back his crystals

Say he got hit by wrecking ball, he could absorb the force it would put on his body and come out without a scratch. Then if he punched a wall it would collapse with the same force it would get from being hit by a wrecking ball.

Alright, Well my idea is that when he conducts energy, his crystals change into different colors.
Like when he conducts electricity, the Crystals on his body change to yellow.
To absorbing overkill's energy beam, they turn grean.
To red laser bolts, they turn red.
He also has the ability to charge up the conductive energy he absorbs into a powerful eyeblast.

I like it. It keeps the multicolor aspect of him without making it lame like his rainbow blasts. But I think his crystals will change to what ever color he's blasted with, I thought this because all electric blasts, lasers, and beams have a wide variety of color and it might be weird to have his crystals turn yellow when he's being blasted by purple lighting.
