itsΒ Intel Xeon Six-Core Processor, 32GB of ram andΒ nvidia quadro card. I think I have the most expensive commuter in the building(at work).

Superb job. I have played around with rendering gems in the past and it is tough to do. Would love to see how you managed it.

diamonds are the hardest... other stones are dielectric materials(plus proper shape)

have you ever been to a real life photo shoot?

Not sure where you are going with it, but to answer your question... yes! I work with models all the time.Β

i noticed that there were no environmental refections on the jewelry and the light source was omnipotent, but if you have experience in photography then you knew that already and it was intentional.

actually there ARE environment reflections(more noticeable on the silver piece in the center)... where do you think the blue is coming from??? The render is done via IBL technique where lights and reflections are generated from the HDR image mapped on the sphere around the objects. in fact ALL reflections in this scene are generated from the picture environment around it!!!
You should research this a little before making any moreΒ comments...

no, i do see the color but and reflects, they just don't represent a room. i not criticizing your work because it is very good.
i was just curious about your design choices.Β
sorry, i wont bother you again.

if I place a sphere in the center of the scene with much more reflective surface facing the light source you would see the room image more. You won't see direct reflections in surfaces that are the way they are in the render.
