Sort of an experiment. I'm trying to make my digital pieces more...painterly, not hard cell-shades like I normally do. This was a bit of a speedpaint, though, so it's not going to be really neat. Just trying things out. I didn't spend...that much time on it.If anyone has any suggestions or comments on the style, I'd love to hear them!
I thought Volvagia was a nice subject because of her mottled back, it looks like hardening lava. I thought that would be fun to do in this style. Plus, she's a pretty awesome boss, and I've been wanting to draw her ever since I beat her.
Photoshop Elements 6 and Corel Painter essentials 4, maybe an hour or so.

this is nice artwork, volvagia has a large role in the manga where 7 years ago, volvagia was a close friend of link, after he takes the sword and becomes an adult however, ganondorf curses his old friend which causes him to rampage, the only way to lift the curse... is to kill him :C

On another note, For some reason I had this delusion for the longest time that Volvagia was female. (I still kind of see Volvagia that way, ha ha...)

I've always thought of Volvagia as female, but others say Volvagia is male. I honestly don't know, I think somewhere in the game it's mentioned, but I can't remember.

She looks a lot more menacing and frightful than I remembered back in Ocarina of Time.

Yeah, I remember when I first faced Volvagia. I was terrified. I knew the Megaton Hammer came into play, but HOW was the question.
And actually, I feel like she was scarier in OoT than I depicted her here.

His fight music is freaking awesome. Everytime I fight him, or someone else does, I get the incurable urge to pause the game and dance.

Stallord battle music in TP is actually a remix of Volvagia battle music. Listen closely next time you face him.

Volvagia is amazing cool, the only problem is that he is one of the weakest boss of the game

Hmm, I'd have to say that Morpha was the weakest. Volvagia still took me a couple tries, while I dispatched Morpha within a matter of minutes.

Actually, according to Zeldapedia and the Zelda Wiki, in Ocarina of Time Volvagia is male. Or, at least Link the Goron calls him a "he". I've never seen it referred to as a "she". Where are you getting that information?
