Description
An illustration for the Diud'chi Rules book for Gaterunner RPG. We are hoping to have a proof copy by Origins.L'vander in our current game is a Drop Trooper that decided to take a couple of skill levels in Phase Blade. The armor is big thing here. It monitors her vitals and gives 3d8 protection against just about anything. Not heavy armor, but then with her weapons and luck - what could stand in her way?

Very pretty. Only thing that looks a little off is her mouth, but as iΒ΄m guessing sheΒ΄s not human, it can be atributed to that.

Amazing work, again! Love the multiple shades of purple and pink, and the intricacy of the armor itself.

Thank you. It's hard to believe that Origins is a bit of a month away. Greg has been working hard on the Diud'chi book. I have one more full color piece to do for it. One that my daughter-in-law started and Greg took to another level for the book. Damn, I hope we do well. So much is riding on Origins, I can't begin to think about it. We so need the 'big break'.
Could you see Gatecrash as a mini series? I certain can... or taken to the big screen. I guess that is my fondest hope. Years ago I had a waking dream of Greg giving me a big kiss in front of an auditorium full of people after getting some award.... silly eh? I believe in him...
Anyway... I'm taking today off, there's so much work to be done... We have 51 pages on the web comic so far and need to double it before considering putting it out in print. I may write an introduction. We plan on having a lot of additional material for it (along with images too, I may add.
Thanks for the feedback... you rock.

Wow... and Gencon is in August (wish I was going this year, but money is TIGHT!) I can only hope that the dreams of the two of you come true, and I wish you guys the best regarding sales at Origins!
Have fun on your day off! I look forward to Tasha's Tale as a book (I'll buy it!), and I should have some stuff for you later this week.
You guys rock, as well!

A very nice piece. Nicely staged and a good use of lighting.
Would you mind me making a suggestion with regards to the blade?
I'm assuming you're using photoshop, if not then disregard the whole comment from here on.
You can make a new layer for the white part of the blade, colour it white where you want it to go, then double click the layer in the Layers window to go to the layer options. In there, check the box for Outer Glow. You can change the colour of the glow as well as the various slidfers to modify the intensity. This will give it more of a light sabre effect. You can also do a bit of gaussian blur to the white to merge it into a glow a little better. It might look better on top of the line art too, giving it a more solid energy look.

Oh, I use photoshop and I do something along those lines.
I know completely about adjustments and adding layer effect.
In order to control the amount of blur, I often duplicate the
layers and expand the selection, I'll refill the layer with the
color and then use the gaussian blur, by doing this, I'm able to
erase the blur I don't need (i.e. the lights on the lower left).
The white does have a blur around it on top, but because of the
color, it is really difficult to see (I played with it quite a bit).
So actually the blades have 3 or so layers, and because of web
resolution, I'm sure we are missing the glow intensity.
Thanks for the comment.

Ahh, I know what you're doing there. I used to do the same thing until I tried after glow. I find that more accurate, myself.
But it's your call, naturally

I actually took it to heart - hey we can always use room for improvement, eh?
I adjusted both the pink and white glows and went ahead and let the gun and her arm computer glow as well
Thanks,
zym

You're welcome, and you're right. I mean, I'm no-where near as good as I want to be, and any handy hints are always useful, I think.
Most of my stuff comes from dicking about with Photoshops options until something looks good.

This is where you throw the "More flunkies than they can cut at once" attack at them. AKA the Zerg Swarm or Kobold Dump.

Thanks... I keep wondering how many shades there are of purple and pink! You'd have to understand the Diud'chi to fully grasp what that is about... Their world is bathed in ultraviolet and other colors along that range - purples, pinks and some blues.
Thank you for your feedback!
