Here it is, at last!
What else to say, even if it's a short story it should be at least 30 pages long, in the end, so I think it will take a while to complete it.
Soon I'm going to post a "cast page" too for those who are not familiar with my characters.
I hope you like it!

Oh MAN! I didn't know you had a comic going on! Going to read all this right now!
Again, your skill with city setting and armor are incredible.

Sadly I don't think I'll ever finish it. It was supposed to be a quick experiment, but it took way too much time and resources to be manageable. I prefer to focus on other projects now.
Thank you!

A pity, but I understand. Maybe some day, I could afford to pay you to finish this, it's got a lot of effort put into it, as well as the rest of your work.
One thing that stood out to me, was the scene of violence. The lynchings in particular. The short man, was he a dwarf, do they not exist in this story, and he's a beast folk sympathizer?
Another thing that stood out, morbidly, was the fact the cat woman was nude, implying she was raped first, but one thing I noticed, was the blood from her nose, and the shape of her neck... I have sene photos of men, hung by the neck, there necks, were... horribly stretched and misshapen, and you could make out the snapped spine, poking at the skin, a large bulge in the neck, and often times, there noses were bloody.
I'm no expert, I did not research into it, but I assumed, possible the neck snapping, had something to do with it, the cracked pone jabbing at skin.
Worse, is the slow hanging, where the spine is not snapped, and the person chokes on there own weight. People tend to wet themselves, or empty there bowls out of pain and panic from the experience. Dreadful way to go, but I imagine that could also cause a nose bleed from the blood pressure.
Forgive my morbid prying, I just have analyzing nature and like things to be accurate, so often times, I will study such things to find out more and give a accurate portrayal. I was curious, if that is what you intended with her.

I was thinking about finishing it in a different style, or write the story down, but I'm not sure it's worth it. besides, I'm working on Shadi's first story now, I should start drawing it soon.
Yep, it's hinted she didn't have an easy time before being hanged, poor girl. The blood could also be from a punch to the face, and the small guy is indeed a dwarf.
I'm always afraid to go overboard with the violence, even in Shadi's story there will be a lot of hinted and not-so-hinted gore. Abuse, torture, executions and people burnt alive...

Oh that's alright, whatever you put out, I am sure I'll love, even if this doesn't get finished, you produce so much high quality, amazing works, that the sting of this remaining unfinished is not so bad.
Oh cool, I didn't know you had dwarfs in here, there under appriciated in my opinion, and was excited to see they were apart of the Witcher lore, when I started playing the second game.
Eeesh, yea, at least this was more a mental image, but such scene always unnerved me. Hangings in particular, though not grisly (Usually) always have such a foreboding image. The body just hanging, long, thin, swinging in a breeze. Could be the scenes I saw as a child that left that feeling, not sure. Something that always unnerved me, was killing of civilians by soldiers, as well as captured men being executed, or helpless men being killed in war. Torture and rape in particular always have the worst impact on me emotionally, but it, just happens so much, especially in the chaos of war.
I was starting to wonder if Shadi's story would show much less violence, and be more a fun adventure story, but either way, I am sure I'll love what you do, no matter what you decide on. Funny you should mention burning alive, that was going to be featured a lot in mine. I kinda dread those scenes, but, more want to make it as a emotional spike to people. To show them how twisted people can be, ALL people, and to have it so common place, that it's almost expected when a army takes a town or men raid a outlying town or village. Like in what I mentioned of the western colonies, and how chaotic and untamed it will be. So people will expect it to always be horrible and gruesome, morbid, and sad, and all the more surprising, when that one, mysterious character shows up while soldiers are shoving men, women and children into a single building, to burn them all alive, and the mysterious, hooded character shows up out of nowhere, and tells them to turn around and walk away. Later revealing he's like, some kind of magic user or monster, and rips them to pieces.
So, it's kinda like, showing real life, repeatedly, then, surprising people with sort of (Wish fulfillment) in seeing one, powerful person, step in, and using said power to actually do something, and stop that same, repetitive, horror from happening again, and saving a small number of people. A small light in the vast, terrible darkness.
As for the other message, I am not going to reply to that one just yet, because I am personally going to look up all the songs you mentioned.

Haha well thanks for the trust! Hope not to disappoint!
I have to agree, these scenes have quite a strong impact. It's quite a shame such things happened countless times in history, and they keep happening.
No fun story for Shadi! There is a lot of violence going on, and for Shadi it's probably even worse than for Eno and Lars, since she has no chance to stand and defend herself. She's a little girl with no combat skill, if some crap happens all she can do is face it.
That sounds horrifying! D: Glad to see someone is taking the side of the downtrodden!

Oh I trust you 100% that if it's something by 0laffson... I'm going to love it! I could bet on it.
Well, yes, they did happen, a lot and still do, and I wanted to out exactly that in my book. Why? I want a accurate portrayal of life. The good and the bad, Much how like J.R.R. Tolkien, gave a view of the devastation of war, and man's effect on the environment-
I plan to add a heart breaking view, of war, and the cost of war. Beloved characters with die in battle, people will feel that loss, and the sense that "Nobody is safe, this is madness, anybody I love can DIE!"
And you will see these rich character with many backgrounds, snuffed out in a moment of melee, possibly by another favorite, fighting for the other side.
But worse still, are the atrocities done unto the helpless, and the weak. Those unfortunate farmers who just happen to be in the way, and had some food and a beautiful daughter.
BUT! This is a fiction, and as such, some characters are obviously not natural, and more than just men. Some will wield extraordinary power, and will make decisions, based on morals. Others will choose to loo away, and try not to care, other just DON'T care, for what ever reason, and then there are some, who are just pure evil.
And some times, heroes are just that one soldier, that one officer, or that one general, who decides to do what they feel is RIGHT, rather than what is necessary, or easy. Do you loot a farm to feed your starving men? Do you cut down the father, trying to defend his family? Do you hold your men back when they try to rape that man's daughter.
War will always bring horrible and hard choices, and we ALL must make choices in life, but I in the end, our choices, will make us.
I have been working on many great characters. Perhaps if I can get around to drawing them, I will show you, if you're interested.
Like you say of Shadi. No matter what you do, I want to read and see it. I want to see you weave a story of this little girl, born of rape, of ALL things... But loved by a mother still. To see her go through life, facing her trials, and her triumphs. This is a story I would love to see from you.
A child, conceived out of one of the cruelest, and most selfish sins you could commit... And carried, SO selflessly, by a mother, despite that horror, not only brings her into this world to be her daughter, but LOVES her... There is something so heart achingly emotional in that for me.
I know not what horrors your little Shadi will face, but I imagine she will triumph over them in the end, and not let them destroy her.
Much like how her mother didn't let Shadi's terrible conception destroy her, or her child, and so, was gifted with the joy of a daughter, that loved her, and that she was able to love.
I'm sorry, dwelling on this has made me very emotional. Forgive me, I had 3 hours of sleep in two nights.

I got a really stupid question. What was that type of cuirass called? The one being worn by the guy with the sallet? That has the buckle connecting it to the gorget?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
0laffson In reply to DragonStrider [2017-02-21 23:17:37 +0000 UTC]
The lower part is called "plackart" if I'm not mistaken. Sometimes it was an integral part of the breastplate, other times it was a separate piece. I'm not sure if having the plackart connected to the gorget has a specific name though, nor if it was really historically accurate.

Well, I like it very much. It is almost realistic Now i'm going to page 2, but... there is one illogical thing. I think that's a watermill wheel, but... it is somewhat awkward. You know, putting a wheel, which requires a current, in a wall niche? It kinda would not work the way it should, because in such places there is no current. I know you had to put something in there, but a wheel makes no sense. A covered boat dock would have been a lot more realistic.

0laffson In reply to VerrikanTFD [2017-01-02 15:51:43 +0000 UTC]
Thank you so much! Actually, back then I used a picture of a an ancient mill as a reference and it had some sort of "watershed" behind the wheel. I didn't think too much about it at the time, but I imagine having that behind the wheel would protect it from damage in case the current became to strong. I don't know, really! Probably it was an isolated case. ^^

Not sure it works with pencil, personally I don't think so, mainly because colours mix together and there would result in some weird colour.
I'm not that sure though, I've never used much pencils With watercolor it's different since it literally works in layers, and if the previous one is dry they don't really mix.

I like this very much. Small nit: the mill wheel puzzles me quite a bit, I don't see how it could work. Wouldn't the wall keep water from flowing under it?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
0laffson In reply to DarkstripeShadowpaw [2016-11-16 20:41:35 +0000 UTC]
I actually used an historical medieval mill as a reference, so in some way it works. The water flows from the right to the left in this image, so it wouldn't stop the water from reaching the wheel, but probably slow it down in case the current is too strong, to avoid damage.
